Round of applause for our sponsors

I was always going to be an artist, went to art school & graduated…..but it was in the late 80’s & there weren’t the jobs for artists like there are now. I had family to provide for, so I had to go into graphic design & work any other jobs I could get. I didn’t have time to draw, I worked 3 jobs, plus I was a mother having to cook, clean etc. I spent the next 20 odd years not drawing at all, then I was diagnosed with a rare illness & had to stop working & I started to draw again 5 yrs ago.

During my final year of a Bachelor of Music, I was doing sound design/compositions for video games which sparked an interest for the creative process of making video games. When making a portfolio as entry for a games/animation degree I discovered an enjoyment for creating environments and level design.

I was playing the Shimmering Isles Expansion for Oblivion and the room I was in turned into butterflies.

I always wanted to bring my art to life, and at first I was focused on hyper-realism to achieve this. By the time I reached Year 9, I discovered this thing called 'animation', which was all about bringing art to life, and I've never wanted to do anything else since.

I've always loved the creative field, art, games, music, characters you name it!

I started my 3D journey is 2020 and haven't looked back. I have always had an interest in visual storytelling, ever since watching Lord of the Rings and Star Wars as a young boy. I would pour over the visual guide books, looking at every detail as closely as possible. I would imagine the world in which each object was created. I have always been fascinated how well crafted ojects and environments enhance a story.

When I was 7 I was gifted a handy-me-down Nintendo 64 for my birthday. It was this gift that helped me realise I was destined to work in the media/entertainment industry.

After having spent a few years on my scientific career, I felt like I had pigeonholed myself. It was only after discovering VFX, a synergy of art and science, I knew I had found a place where I could thrive. I finalised my commitment to this industry after discovering it's passionate and inspirational community.

I have always been consumed by Blizzard’s games and worlds, most especially the Warcraft universe, providing me with a strong source of inspiration for my ongoing development as an artist. From about 8 years old I knew all I wanted to do was make art for this particular fantasy world, which ultimately has led me into the games industry.

I discovered this path by chance when I stumbled across CDW Studios and a poster by Jaime Jones for Halo Reach. Something clicked and I knew this was what I needed to do. 20 years old and already studying/working as a Web Developer and with 0 experience in Art, I started my first ever course and changed my entire life around. It took me a while but I finally discovered what I truly wanted to be. Been moving towards that ever since, 6 years on and I haven't looked back once.

I first realised that I wanted to work in the creative media industry while I was completing my research project in high school. My topic question was, "In what ways has the advancement in CGI impacted the film industry?". Before doing any of my research I didn't have any knowledge of CG or how it was done, yet I was very intrigued and enticed by the world of VFX and I was already in love with games. The more research I did, the more I realised that I wanted to be a 3D artist.

I studied architecture for a while but eventually left and found out about concept art in learning to draw as a hobby. I just started getting more involved, and eventually I decided to go all in. Now it's my life.

I dreamt of working in the entertainment industry as a kid all the way back when I was playing my Super Nintendo. Although, it would be many years later that I would recognize my dreams could become a reality and that my hobby could become a profession. I truly put my head down and started to apply myself when I started my formal education. I have worked long and hard to get to where my skill level is at now, and I look forward to pushing myself harder every day to try my best myself.

My name is Alex and I am an aspiring 3D/texture artist. From a young age, I was fascinated with digital art/design, wanting to know more about it and how it was created. At the start, I focused more on video editing and motion graphics more than anything else. However, I ended up coming across Autodesk Maya and wanted to know more, thus starting the plunge into visual effects and 3D.

12-year-old me constantly redrew scenes from Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy as a personal challenge. It was the only way I knew to try produce' something of that aesthetic. I once had an idealistic desire to contribute to building the industry that most of the people I knew thought was non-existent, but instead went to study Science. After graduating, I finally gave in to the nagging curiosity as to explore 3D and my love for art and returned to see how far I can go.

When I played team fortress 2 for the first time, I feel in love with the characters, art style and gameplay and said I want to work on creating something as awesome as this game one day.

Since the day I figured out how to hold a pencil I've always known I wanted to be an artist. As a tiny tot and even now, I'd get lost in my own worlds and stories while listening to music or thinking of my favourite shows. Upon taking Film & Television classes in high school where I discovered my passion for cinematography and visual storytelling, I then finally realised that animation was my calling.

Ever since I chose multimedia as my course for high school, I wanted to pursue my career in creating art. I am passionate on what I make and I want to collaborate with people who share the same interest.

I realized that I wanted to work in games at a young age. Playing games inspired me to draw my own characters and worlds. I've always loved that feeling of wonder I get from exploring in-game worlds inhabited by characters and creatures.

I discovered that I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry around my senior years of high school, and had an immense interest in furthering my creativity and knowledge

I've always wanted to create things that make people laugh or smile, even if it's a quick minigame to send to a friend to cheer them up.

I've always been interested in the entertainment industry but it wasn't until I was at university for 3 years doing non-creative subjects that I realized that I really wanted to be a part of it. Movies, especially animation, have always been a big part of my world, starting with family movie nights as a kid almost every weekend. We would watch all of the behind the scene footage and I was always so interested by what went on. This included everything, costume, set, acting, and directing

From my early high school years, I have always had an interest in the arts.

I've always loved creating things that are entertaining for others as well finding new mediums I can use to express my feelings and opinion on things.
