Round of applause for our sponsors

Growing up I wasn’t allowed to play video games. It wasn’t until I started college that I first played Skyrim. I was so fascinated that I decided to learn more about games and apply for a 3D Art course during the summer. I struggled with the software packages, but I enjoyed the process. This encouraged me to try and create a game for my bachelor’s project. I started practicing 3D art and learning blueprint scripting in Unreal Engine. This made realize that I want to work as a Game Artist.

I have always been interested in Art. I find communicating through pictures/moving pictures much more comfortable for me than words which I often find limiting. I had the bittersweet experience of working as a cashier, salesperson, etc, that made me realise how much I would detest my life if I only worked for money, days-off and vacation days. I want to have a fulfilling life and telling stories through my concepts is what keeps me sane and happy.

When I found out that you can create 3D environment for games that can provide people an immersive experience with a story to follow.

I was originally looking to follow a career in the sciences or psychology. When choosing my university I realised that although I enjoyed those subjects my passion lay in writing, films, games and my art, and that I wouldn't be content continuing them as a hobby but wanted them to be my life. I studied Animation Production at Arts University Bournemouth, and discovered a passion for concept art, and went to Escape Studios to hone my 2D & 3D work skills to achieve this job.

In 2013, while interning as a computer science student, I became cognizant of my passion for the creative industry. It was during this time that I first discovered Blender, a 3D modeling software, and began experimenting with it. This led me to realize my affinity for 3D art as opposed to programming. Additionally, my interest in the visual effects pipeline was piqued by my exposure to films such as 2012 and Elysium.

In 2014, I started experimenting with 3D software such as Cinema4D and Blender and I would develop small Minecraft short animations. This then branched out into a major interest in 3D and 2D animation, after developing my skills in Cinema4D I created a youtube channel which has changed a fair amount throughout the years. After a year of experimenting, I decided that Animation was my passion and that I wanted to invest time in learning how to create films much like the ones which inspire me.

Example: I have wanted to work in Creative Media from a young age. I would like to write something more personal here that is also brief

I first realised I wanted to work in the creative industry after I completed a Foundation course, where I learned I really enjoy illustrating characters, weapons and creatures. I have been interested in computer and Xbox gaming for a long while and later started playing on Nintendo Switch. I became a Games Art student at Escape Studios and gained skills into using 3D modelling software to become a 3D Modelling Artist.

I didn't It just found me and I ended up becoming good at what I do, I just stayed.

I first realized that I wanted to work in the creative industry in sixth form. I was inspired by my teachers in my Digital Media Production and Digital Design classes. Using technology to create art has always been a concept that has fascinated me.

I first realised I wanted to work in the creative media industry when I was about 13-14 years old, where I'd been inspired to start practicing animation by online artists such as Vivienne Medrano. Through this interest I began watching student films from various institutions, and then spent a good part of my time as a student practising 2D animation. While I still want to work as an animator, I also found that I have a passion for character design and for game art as well through my practise.

Backtrack to 15 years ago, I remember wanting to skip school and get to play video games on my pc. Road Rash and Cs 1.6 were my obsession and these games got me hooked onto wanting to explore more games and experience a different life, virtually. Having artistic skills run in the family blood, I naturally grew the love for the beauty in the art put into creating beautiful game worlds. So, I decided to switch paths and study Game art and Design and now I'm here! Hope you like some of my work!

When I had some time out of education I picked up VFX as a hobby, and it quickly grew as a passion of mine so I decided to go to university to study it with the aim of getting a job in the VFX industry.

I have always had an interest in art and used most of my free time engaging in creative hobbies and activities. Being a fan of video games, I had always hoped that I could find a way to turn my hobbies into a job. While working on a group project, I discovered that I enjoy organizing the team and ensuring that tasks are completed on time. Despite being an artist, I am also interested in production roles and would like to explore opportunities in that area in the future.

This was when I was in the 1st year of college. I really struggled with what I wanted to do, but I knew I wanted it to be creative. At the time I studied graphics, fine art and film studies. By learning about the film industry I knew I wanted to be in it so, I went to the 'design your future' UCAS fair in Manchester and wandered around. By chance, I saw a talk by Escape Studios all about what I should look for in an animation course, what it entails, and what software they should be using.

I first realized when I was much younger that I wanted to be involved in the creative industry in one way or another, always being the creative and arty type. I didn't fully realize that I wanted to get into entertainment, and the Gaming Industry more specifically until my late teens when I became Interested in Media Studies and Games development, all the while training to go onto Architecture. once I figured that ouand started studying Game design full time, I never looked Back.

I started college without really knowing what I wanted to do, I was always a creative person so I choose to do a film and TV course. This lead onto me teaching my self 3D. I then started at Escape and really found what I loved to do, and that was 3D Visual effects.

Before getting accepted into my current university I went through the interviewing stage like any other applicant; during that interview I was asked "why did you sign up for this university". I came from a fine art and programming background and I never really gave it that much thought as to why I wanted to be at the university but after a couple minutes I said: I enjoy making the unrealistic real. After that day I knew i wanted to work on movies and any form of entertainment.

From a very young age, I have been passionate about drawing, video games and arts in general. With the release, in 2005, "Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children", the Japanese computer-animated film directed by Tetsuya Nomura, was released ", my fascination and interest for CGI began. Ever since I have been dedicated to improving my skills and learning new techniques.

I’ve always been a huge fan of gaming, watching films and sports. I’m a passionate gamer that loves story-driven games, especially cutscenes and cinematic trailers. I’d never skip any cut scene or cinematic. It always gives me that urge to play even more. This is where I thought, right, I really want to do cinematics in the future and began doing research in the ways cinematics are made i.e. mocap, unreal sequencer, Maya animation, etc. I then began the undergrad games course at Escape Studios.

I have had a passion for film and television from a very early age and have aspired to work in the industry for a long time. What first drew me to film was the Harry Potter series, I grew up with my parents reading me the books and listening to the audiobooks on repeat, so I was naturally drawn towards the movies as well. I still remember the time I watched the first Harry Potter film and I will never forget the joy I felt watching my favourite books being brought to life on the big screen.
