Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
I've always been creative so it was something I assumed I would do in the future anyway! At some point I did consider different options, including the medical field, but I realized all my interests stemmed from artistic and creative aspects. This helped me realize that it was really the path I wanted to take.
I always knew I wanted to work in the entertainment industry. As a child, when I saw Jurassic Park, I became obsessed with dinosaurs. I drew each of them and memorized each species. Animation films were my passion (and still are). My parents told me that I used to watch Shrek or Robots every single day right after school ... I think it all became clear when I saw 2001: A Space Odyssey . I understood the extent of creative visuals and what they were capable of.
It was really spontaneous. When I was really young, I already knew how to use computer and played little games for children even if the age recommendation was higher than mine. My vision for art was already developped at young age. So I began to paint and draw during my spare time. I knew that I love art in general. So I took a 3D class and I instantly love it.
I started learning after effects 5 years ago, slowly grinding the software until I discovered a passion for motion design. As I like to explain, If motion design was a building, the last year I felt like I reached the second floor of a small building, I felt like I reached the roof to do all kind of task in a decent manner, but as soon as I opened a 3D software, It felt like I discovered a hidden staircase leading to 300 other stage to ascend. At this point, I knew 3D motion design was my place.
I've always been a doodler, but I was never encouraged to study fine arts. I was in a slump after failing to pursue and education in a STEM field and had joined a small, fan-made online game site based on a popular Shounen anime. It was basic, but the owner needed avatars for NPCs in exchange for some quick in-game cash shop currency. Thus begun my journey into Digital Arts which evolved into 3D Digital Arts once I realized that I enjoy exploring environments rather than a single still image.
I have always been a creative individual. Always loved drawing and creating. But I believe I really wanted to make a career in videogames after finishing the game Shadow of the Colossus. After that I tried to pursue studies in France but wasn't super lucky with the schools out there. And then I found my place in Canada, in Montreal and graduated from NAD. I am now more ready than ever to achieve my long life dream.
After finishing a first bachelor degree in Finance, I was never truly happy with the jobs I had or what I was doing day-to-day. I always said that if I could choose my dream job, it would be to work on Disney movies. After seeing that this could actually be my life job, I jump right back on learning through online class and at school. Since them. I know that 3D Character Animation is my new life goal.
When I was in high school, I was dabbling in every Art Form - Painting, Acting, Singing in a band, Drawing, and I knew I wanted to pursue studies in one of these fields. Everything changed when my cousin showed me the game Mass Effect. Games can be awesome to play AND have a story where I am the character and I make my own choices? I realised that video games combined every single art forms that I loved : Music, acting and visual arts. So I simply HAD to make games!
I've always been inspired by the creative media around me which lead me to study a lot of different subjects in CEGEP. 2D & 3D animation, motion design, sound design, UI/UX design, web programming, game developping... But what really stuck with me was 3D. It had the perfect balance of creativity and technicality to challenge me into wanting to make great things.
Growing up, I always loved cinema, especially fantasy and science fiction films. It was while watching these films in the cinema and in front of my TV that I understood that I wanted to do special effects but I didn't yet know how I was going to get there. It was much later that I discovered NAD-UQAC by chance, a university of visual effects and animation.
