Round of applause for our sponsors

Since I've been young I was fascinated by movies and how they are created. I have always been a creative person and therefore a Job in the creative media and entertainment industry is a big dream of mine. After I finished highschool, I got to know Pixl Visn, where my interests, to work in this industry, got confirmed.

I was always fascinated by animated movies and films in general. They're a great way to tell a story and to bring a smile to someone's face and that's what I want to be a part of. Seeing a movie always made me question how are the special effects made and that's when I got really interested in learning vfx. So I decided to attend Pixl Visn Media Arts Academy.

I was interested in making movies since I was a child. Further on, I started experimenting with Cinema 4d and Autodesk Maya at the age of 13, which fascinated me that much, that I have decided to join a professional education for 3D Animation in Germany.

Pretty much after my graduation at high school. First I studied Art & Technology in the Netherlands and worked after that 2 years in different film productions. But I realized that I want to work more creative and also in 3D. Now I am almost graduated at PIXL VISN media arts academy. My passion are cars and product advertisement.

When I started to play Videogames when I was at young age I decided to get into making them. And in 2019/2020 I started learning more about career paths and so I came to Pixl Visn and focused further on the areas that I had the most fun with.

I've always been the creative one in the family. Even at school, I designed my learning sheets colourfully and with as many drawings as possible or I painted on my pants. I only got into the 3D industry when I saw the Making-of of Frozen 2. After that I knew that's what I wanted to do.

I have always been very computer affinity and when I came across the site of Pixl Visn, I knew that is what I want to do. The subsequent workshop at Pixl Visn only confirmed this and so I became a visual effects artist student.

I really enjoy watching movies (not all of them). I like to create worlds and working on movies would be the coolest thing ever.

The three most important things for me are creativity, learning, and freedom, so during my last years of school, I was looking for careers that would allow all of these things. After hours of researching different career paths, I almost gave up, but when when I visited the Comic Con in Germany I stumbled upon a booth of Pixl Visn and it was love at first sight. From then on I knew I was going to become a 3D artist.

Hi! My name is Ivan Pechalin and I'm originally from Ukraine but now I live in Germany, studying 3D Animation & VFX at the PIXL VISN media arts academy. From a young age on I was inspired by art, animation, movies, music and photography, so to me it was obvious I would find myself in the creative industry. In 2019 I attended a 3-month basic course in 3D Animation in Kiev at Projector Creative & Tech School, after which I decided to learn 3D in general.

Since I was little I was fascinated by art, the older I got the more fun I had. At some point I wanted not only 2D but also 3D, because with it I would have the possibility to look at objects, animals, creatures etc. from whatever angle I wanted. In addition, I was fascinated by film production, because I often watched behind-the-scenes with my father. That's how I found my way to the art of visual effects.

When i saw Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Jim Carrey said something like "Finally Monday" in this moment i realized i wanna say that too.

I was always interested in films and the production of them. My family and I went as much as we could to the cinema and watched every kind of film. As I graduated my Highschool, I was looking forward to get a job in which I will always have fun to work in. So I began to think: Why not the film and entertainment industry? It was the best decision I had ever made.

I remember making a short movie for easter 2012. My Grandfather gave me a video camera and I started recording my little sisters dressed up as the easter bunny. The whole thing was edited in Windows Movie Maker. ... Two years later we did the same thing again but at that point, I had bought myself a stylish workstation, binge-watched all the Andrew Kramer tutorials, and even used my favorite Naruto soundtrack on the new edit. Since then I fell in love with the creation of VFX.

After School I was sure to work in a creative field. After my apprenticeship I graduaded as a Media Designer in Picture and Sound, but I always wanted to work as a 3D artist.

At first I wasn't sure I wanted to work in the industry but after working in several different areas, I've never been able to scratch that creative itch. So I decided to pursue my passion and get into the entertainment industry.

I always loved the magic of movies. Then I saw a video of the Making Of from Jurassic Park. A man built a dinosaur and I realised that this is actually a job that could be fun. So I started to search for a school to learn that stuff.

I knew since the beginning, that I want to work in the entertainment industry. First though, my goal was to work in the musical department for movies, series, video games etc., but over the years it changed into actually wanting to create the charcters and see them come to life.

I was always fond of drawing and telling stories, but at one point back in school I was watching a cinematic cutscene from a videogame and was so blown away by the beauty of it that I said to myself "I want to do that too". So after school my journey began: Started as an HR intern in a VFX company, studied game art at the Cologne Game Lab and learned animation during the grad project. Freelanced a bit for indie games. Then started getting into VFX through tutorials and Pixl Visn.

I used to play Minecraft as an architect or as a normal player. I've been in countless building teams creating great worlds. Then I finished my school and wanted to do something similar. Luckily I heard from pixlvisn, I was there on an open day in 2013 and attended a workshop, and to be honest, I had fun.

Every time I saw a cinematic for a videogame I thought it would be awesome to be a part of the team that created this masterpiece. As soon as I realised this could be a real career to choose, I was hooked.

During my time in school I always had more fun doing practical things and art so I always knew that a normal job isn't something I wanted. The idea to actually work in the entertainment industry has only come up during the past 2 years when I realised that it is an actual option I could pursue in my life.

The decision about what to do after graduating from school was not too far in the future and I was pretty sure to study computer science. But when I learned about the people and their amazing work behind these wonderful movies and games I always loved, a new career plan formed in my head. From the first moment, I loved the idea of working on these amazing movies and games myself.

I was never really happy with the idea of going to university and studying for a job that would require staring at the same boring statistics everyday and rather wanted to work in a field that would challenge my creativity. The special effects in movies like Avatar and the Hobbit Trilogy had such a lasting impression on me that by the time I came across my school I wanted to sign up and learn everything about it.
