Demo Reel 2020

My Current Demo Reel contains all my best work from my time at Gnomon School of VFX, Games, and Animation. I am current working on a couple pieces that will be added by the the end of Summer. I plan to add a project that uses predominately Houdini and another project that will be put into Unreal Engine. I'm always looking to expand my horizons with the application I use. I hope you guys enjoy my work!

Aurum de Bellator

Based on the Original Concept by ㅇㅇ Joo.

I took the liberty of adding a background to the final render. While designing the armor I was heavily inspired by the Conquistadors and similar armors of the 16th Century. I aimed to make an armor fitting the concept but also be reminiscent of the period I started the project in Maya, brought the armor to Zbrush for final details. All Textures were done in in either Mari Or Substance Painter. After, it was brought to Nuke for the compositing.

Danger Zone

I'm a big fan of Top Gun and with the sequel coming out. This piece gave a great opportunity to work on my Nuke skill and make a quick animated short, but I'm not an animator. This was in collaboration with my brother Jason Gardner.

To start this project, I started with my Shot cam and add my dolly. Then I started figuring out where I would want my crew and what they would be doing. I relied on the motion tracks from Mixamo and blended multiple animations together to give my characters a believable movements. All the crew excluding the pilots are the same model that was built with Zbrush and Marvelous Designer. The crewman model was re-textured for crew variation using Substance Painter. the environment and jet were modeled in Maya and textured in substance as well. Finally the image sequence was compiled in Nuke.

Geisha

Original work by Patipat Asavasena

I saw this awesome concept on an ipad pro at Best Buy and thought it would be cool in 3D. I made this piece for my Demo Reel at Gnomon because I wanted something different on my reel. It was like a mix of Blade Runner and Cyber Punk, it was love at first sight. The Initial layout and block-in of the shot was done in Maya, then brought to ZBrush. The Geisha Girl's skin was done in Mari using xyz textures. Clothes were done in Marvelous for the most part and detailed in Zbrush. The same process was done for all subsequent characters in the scene. When I got the lighting to a good place, it was brought to Nuke for the final touches.
