Slavic Myth x Cosmic Horror
Hello there, here's a character design project from my second year at CDW Studios! I took figures from Slavic folklore and redesigned them with a cosmic horror twist >:) Still need to work a lot on sketching iterations and lighting but brewing up wacky designs was great fun!
Dazhbog the bountiful: god of sun, fire and rain; can transform into a white wolf
Chernobog the calamitous: god of darkness, night and misfortune
The Alkonost, a multicoloured half bird half woman messenger with an ethereal singing voice
Zhrets, a lower level priest and eater of sacrifices
Character illustration - 'The Alkonost sits on the branches of an apple tree that gives golden fruits and grows in Bright Iria. She brushes the live dew from her wings and the fruits are transformed, they have an amazing healing power.'
Another mini project from last year: Zelda BOTW boss design inspired by in-game lynels, Japanese one-horned kirin and clothing/accessories from the Jomon period
