Being constantly inspired by professional artists and various media has pushed me to pursue a career in production art

I realised I wanted to work in games pretty much when I started playing at around age 4 (The NES), more seriously around the PS2 era, so when I was a teenager. Over the past few years have I been studying the 3D game development pipeline.

For as long as I can remember, I've desired employment in the visual effects field. I began my journey by using the computer to create simple visual effects shots, such as one depicting a lightsaber battle.

After studying art throughout education, I wanted to find a career path that could mix all of my interests and hobbies into 1 enjoyable job. I am able to combine my love of art, video games and computers into a daily hobby, creating artwork I love.

I have always had a passion for characters, I slowly realized that games allow people to immerse themselves with a character and the game world.

When I was younger I had an accident that resulted in a disability and difficulty walking, so I spent a lot of time watching films & series. I then started looking into behind-the-scenes videos for the movies I watched as I was interested in the process and after this research, I decided I wanted to pursue a career in this field.

I have always been fascinated in how the commercial industries creativity has expanded in representing brands through new visuals and narratives techniques. The way the industry takes a familiar subject and developing them in a new way while still keeping the integrity of the subject is a balance I try to achieve in my work. This is also what drew me towards the 3D department and how the balance between creativity and reality is vital to connect with audiences.

During my final year of college, I was studying art and design and I wanted to do something different. I decided to enrol for the VFX and MG course in University of South Wales. This lead to my potential of using my art skills into the 3D space by using software such as Houdini, Maya and Cinema4D.

Since I was a Child , i have been quite creative and until i was a bit older when i was introduced to video games it became a great part of my life so I wanted my future to involve art and video games

During Alevels I couldn't find anything that gave me motivation. I was going to be a teacher just so I could have the holidays but then it hit me that you can go do anything in university. I've always had an interest in animation, I just didn't realise that you could actually study it in the UK. Thats when I decided that I wanted to be an animator and now I find myself extremely self motivated in my studies because I have found something that I really enjoy.

Drawing is often one of the main occupations of a young mind- I found that was my case growing up. It seemed that I and my sketchbooks were inseparable, I’d spend most of my time doodling fantasy lands with my peers, and the rest of it lost in my imagination. As I grew and ventured into high school, I found my artistic talent paired with a knack for technology. I excelled in IT, Media, Graphics, and Art in particular. Now I specialise in 2D and 3D art.

I started in... like, 7th grade?

From a young age, I always liked daydreaming and creating things, motion graphics just ended up being my medium for creation.

I was always into art since I was able to hold a pencil and there are still a few evidence around my parents house walls. I think the moment I realised that I love animated features and movies was after watching The Incredibles. It was a game-changer for my young mind. Since then I have always been trying to create more and more. Not just drawing but animation, movies and music.

During my 2nd year at Highschool - I started dabbling with 3D following an indie game in development. I made the choice to transfer from hobbyist to professional in 2017 and started a degree in game design, which now has transitioned to a degree in game art.

I have always loved art but in my opinion, I could never breathe the life I wanted my pieces to have within sketches and paintings, as much as I loved it, that was until I found 3d design and animation and after going through some of the basics I knew I had found my new passion and career path.

I've always been creative about stuff in general, found myself without a job a few years back. Decided to do 3d art at some point, and it's been a rollercoaster of emotions, hard work and fun. Can't imagine myself going back.

From a child I have always been in awe of how the visuals looked in films, especially Harry Potter but I never really gave it much thought until I realised that I could myself create awe inspiring visuals when I signed up to go to university. Since then it has been my ambition to work on the amazing vfx that go into films like Avengers and Fantastic Beasts.

I first discovered my love of visual effects during my time studying creative media at secondary school. I loved the way you could create fantastic pieces of media from nothing but your imagination. This lead me onto studying visual effects and motion graphics at the University of South Wales where I developed and learnt new skills. Now that I am in my final year I am honing my skills in my chosen field of Digital Matte Painting.

I've always had an interest in visual effects (even before knowing what it really was) but after studying IT and media at college I discovered it is a plausible career path. After learning more about the industry I discovered my passion for compositing and nuke. Eventually I'd like to teach at a degree level because I enjoy teaching people and sharing knowledge, especially about something I'm passionate about.

I have always been interested in Film and TV and when looking in the making of for multiple different Films I was inspired by the VFX work in them. I had looked into different job roles and Compositing stood out to me as something that I would love to do in the future so that is the role I aspire to have.

When I was in school I realised that creating videos was something I wanted to do. I made a basic 'Windows Movie Maker' video on chicken pox for biology and realised that this was something I really enjoyed. From there I did media as an A Level continuing to my degree where I fell in love with Visual Effects (dabbling with Motion Graphics), leaning skills to become a compositor.

I've always been engrossed in films which contained lots of visual effects, especially when I was younger and the first avengers film came out. I remember saying to myself, I will work on films like this, I have to. Ever since that point I made it my mission to find an industry I could go into, and I found Visual Effects. Since studying Visual Effects at university it has become my absolute passion, I love the idea of being the one who composites everything together and creating that final piece

I wanted a way to be creative whilst working on briefs that have a practical purpose. Creating assets for use in games was a perfect way to apply my work
