As a young boy, my father used to take me to the cinema to see inspiring films. Fast forward a few years, and I got my hands on a camera that enabled me to try and recreate what I've seen. At first it was very crappy, obviously. But soon, I discovered a drive to create, which led me to explore different ways of filmmaking. Such as the use of visual effects. At one point, I figured that I might as well try to make a career out of it. Why not? So far I haven't regretted my decision.

Movies and games have always played a big part in my life. Movies like Lord of the Rings, or playing Rayman Revolution on the PS2 with my dad as a kid, have a special place in my heart. The joy and entertainment they have brought me is something I also want to create for others. I've always loved drawing, when I learned of the term VFX I realised I could combine my passion of making art and entertainment and turned my passion towards making 3D characters and assets.

I have always been on the creative side with my interests and passion through cooking, making music, building stuff, and of course computer graphics. After trying to become a music teacher I noticed myself only thinking about learning 3D in my spare time. It was this moment I decided to quit this study and grow to become an Animator.

Visualizing my imagination by drawing, painting or building things has always been a fascination of mine. When I got older I got interested in technical subjects as well, but could not let go of my creative ambitions. After discovering VFX and the people whose work made me forget what's real and what's not, I knew I found the perfect combination of creativity and technology.

The VFX industry: a wonderful community where the most creative artists work with the latest technology to produce stunning art. What really attracts me to this world is the Production side of VFX. Leading departments, scheduling recourses, supporting teams, managing talent and client communication bring me great satisfaction and fresh energy.

During High School I discovered my love for making the impossible seem possible. I'd always been interested in combining creativity with technology so when I came across a book describing the making of the VFX of the Harry Potter films I knew what I wanted to do.

While in high school, I always tried to persuade my teachers into letting me make films/documentaries instead of written assignments. I quickly realized that making these films was way more time consuming, but I always enjoyed it. After discovering the world of Visual Effects, I knew I wanted to be a part of a team that can create astonishing VFX, films and/or commercials.

When I was younger, I always had filmmaking on my mind. My brother and I used to direct, edit, shoot and act in our short movies, filmed with my dad’s camera. Thereafter, I developed a love for VFX

When I went to high school it was the first time I came in contact with the modern ways of filmmaking. Instantly, I fell in love with the magic of characters like Elsa and Woody. The way they moved felt so original and real, that I wanted to explore how that was even possible. Since then my love grew for creating digital worlds of creativity and exploring new technical boundries. I’m very excited to start my professional journey!

When I was 11 years old I used to make fake news reels through the webcam of my laptop. In high school I noticed that I was very fond of the technical and creative mix that is often found in visual effects. When my high school graduation rolled around I was certain I wanted to be in the visual effects industry focusing on something technical.

When I was studying Graphic Design, I got an internship at a advertising agency. One coworker was working on some 3D radio's. That was when I realized that all of the movies I loved growing up, were made with the same technique. I pursued my goal to make movies and got accepted at The Netherlands Filmacademy in Amsterdam.

Since I was of young age I always had the passion to make the unreal, real. But also the other way around. In my free time I like to practice photography. I make use of the knowledge I have about it in addition to the technical things I know about cameras to make my shots look as photorealistic as possible.

When I was young, my parents never let me up to finish watching the movies that started at 20:30 on TV, so when I got a job I spent all my money to get my own TV and dvd-player with a ton of DVD's to finish watching all of them. After watching Iron Man I realized my fascination for the the idea of being part of the making of a film. Ever since then I've been on my path to make it into the professional film industry.

I have been messing around with VFX and video since I was 12. Ever since I found out about it it just stuck. I cannot remember when I realised it could be my job but when I found out about the Netherlands Film Academy, my main goal at the time was to study there.

Ever since I was a kid, I was inspired by movies like Lord of the Rings and directors like Del Toro and Edgar Wright. The moment I truly realised I wanted to become a filmmaker was around when I was fourteen and after doing production assistance for The Space Between Us, a graduation film from the Netherlands Filmacademy in 2015, I realised I wanted to pursue VFX as a career.

I always used to dream up my own little worlds. I don't know when that started, but I started taking the idea of imagining different worlds seriously when I discovered games and movies. I spent hours building alien civilizations in Spore or carving out landscapes in Rollercoaster Tycoon. Either inspired by Star Trek, paleo art or pictures I found online.

As a child I loved drawing, this turned into my passion for concept-art and design.

Ever since I was a little boy, I loved watching behind the scenes footage from films I watched. When I was 12, me and my friends started making short movies for fun. Whilst learning to make movies, I stumbled upon some of the first VFX tutorials of Andrew Kramer and immediately became Interested in VFX. After visiting a demo day from the Netherlands Film Academy, I knew this is what I wanted to do and where I needed to be. I have been developing my skills ever since.

Dealing with virtual worlds and illusions is truly riveting to me and has fascinated me since I was little. Getting a viewer to think that something imagined is real, or to give them the opportunity to forget their own reality by creating a new one is very satisfying to me.

When I played my first video game.

During my first year of studying electrical engineering I realised how there’s also possibilities to study something that combines technical skills with creativity. I dropped out and applied for the Netherlands Film Academy where I kept falling more and more in love with VFX and the way I could express myself with it.
