Welcome!

I'm Aina Roca Brossa, a junior 3D artist that just started working in the industry.

I'm happy to show you three of the projects on which I worked during my master's degree in 3D character modeling at Animum.

Hope you like it!

3D creature modeling: Merfolk

I enjoyed so much the process of making this creature. It's sculpting started just after three months of studying a lot of human anatomy, and when I completed this project, I realized how great my improvement was, and how important anatomy is for character modeling.

Concept art by Laulel D. Austin.

After working on human anatomy, and also mammal anatomy in general, I wanted to use this project to explore another kind of animal and, I promise, I never thought I would learn that much about sharks.

The stripes on the back are quite interesting. They imitate the reflection of the light under the water which is so useful for the sharks to go unnoticed. I had a bit of trouble understanding how to create this texture, but once I learned its purpose, I could improve it so much.

And finally, I worked on these hard surface props which I also enjoyed the texturing, because it allowed me to experiment with rust materials.

3D character for a videogame: Ringtail Girl

With this character, I learned many tricks and ways to make a 3D character look good, even if it can't have as many polygons as I would like. Retopology and textures became my best friends!

Concept art by Khoa Viet

For that one, the real challenge was the hair and fur. It was my first time working with cards and there was so much fur! But I fell in love with the concept so I had to do it!

To make the hair I used a mesh as a reference to place the cards, and also left the mesh there so I didn't need to worry about transparencies. I was so happy with the result.

The tail was a real struggle. I'm aware it's too rigid to be fur, it looks like feathers. Though, I know how I would do it next time. I would place the cards in a cross shape to make it look more smooth, and maybe If I could use more geometry, a bit of subdivision may help.

Cartoon 3D character: Frisk

I was super excited to make Frisk for this project, and when I found a Lera Kolesnichenko's concept art, I didn't think it twice.

Turning a 2D cartoon character into a 3D character can be a bit hard, specially with the proportions, but looking back at it, I can say I'm proud of the result.

And that's it! Thank you so much fo your time and I hope you enjoyed my projects^^
