3D Animation | 3D Character Art
These are two projects I worked on during 2022 - 2023. Project Triton is the project I'm currently working on, it's a 3D bossfight animation project. In 2022 I worked on Guiding Journey. I did the 3D modelling of the characters and 3D animation of the fox!
Hi! Thank you for checking out my post.
My name is Nathalie, I'm in my last year of HKU, a dutch school where I study Game Art.
I started out as a 2D concept artist, but soon realized that I wanted to go in the 3D direction. I worked on 3D character models mostly and during the project Guiding Journey (down below) I started 3D animating. After that, I made the switch to 3D animation, because I really like doing it!
Project Triton: Bossfight (2023)
This is my graduation project: Project Triton. Project Triton is a boss fight that is taking place in an environment I designed myself. I used asset packs and I made the trees myself.
The bossfight features Triton: a merfolk that used to live in this environment. Humans took over this land and only the guardian of the Triton heirlooms remain. As the player, you fight this Triton warrior to get access to his heirloom: the trident.
The animations of this bossfight focus on the emotions he's feeling throughout the bossfight: hope and despair. I'm hoping to add a facial rig at some point, to convey these emotions even more.
For this project I made the 3D model of the character, I made the rig partly myself and a huge part with blender autorig, and I animated it myself. It's still a work in progress so the animations will be updated in the future. If you are interested in that, you can follow my artstation
Triton: Stab Hope
This is the first spline of the Stab: Hope attack I'm making for my graduation project.
This attack happends during the first stage of the fight: The boss character thinks he can win from the player and is hopeful.
It's still a work in progress and I will revisit it soon.
Triton: Stab Despair
This is my first spline of the Stab: Despair attack I'm making for my graduation project.
This is during a late stage of the fight: The boss character stumbles and his moves seem to cost more energy. He is in despair.
It's still a work in progress and I will revisit it soon.
Rig Triton
This is the rig of the Triton character and the deformation bones skeleton.
Blockout & Spline

Project Triton: Trees (2022)
This part of my entree focusses on the trees I made for Project Triton. They were made before the boss character, in 2022.

Tree and wireframe
To make the tree appear high poly but still render low poly, I used low poly cards.
I baked the high poly leaves on the low poly cards and used substance painter to change the colors.

Guiding Journey (2022)
In 2022, with a team of 5 members, we made Guiding Journey: an awareness game for PBI. The UI, Environment and programming is done by the other team members.
Guiding journey is a story about a human rights defender who is trying to go to a protest where she will have a lecture. She is guided by a fox, a sort of spirit animal helping her on her journey.
For this project I made the 3D model of the main character and the fox. I also made the animations of the fox.
Fox Showreel
Fox Gameplay
The fox is the player character of Guiding Journey. You can walk, dig and grab objects.
Fox: Rig
This is the rig of the fox character. It's the first rig I've ever made.
Character: Fox
The fox character. I modelled it in ZBrush and retopo'ed it in Maya. The fox character has a toon shader in game.
