Dovile

Dovile is inspired by elves, creatures from Nordic mythology, and steampunk fashion. She sheds never-ending black tears

Breakdown

I sculpted the high poly in ZBrush. The wings were modeled in Maya. The gears are taken from ZBrush's IMM brushes. The retopology was done in Maya via the quad draw tool. However, some meshes are zremeshed versions with further editing conducted in Maya. The UVs were cut in Maya as well. The UVs were put in order in two UV spaces divided to three texture maps with a 2k map size. I did baking and texturing in Substance 3D Painter. I used a mixture of PBR and hand-painted texturing. The pose was taken from Mixamo with additional editing in Maya via Blendshapes. I used Marmoset and Iray via Substance 3D Painter for the rendering.

Pharkon

Pharkon is inspired by jinns, creatures of ancient Arabic mythology. It's also inspired by the Disney-iterations commonly known as genies.

 Breakdown

The approach was the same as the way I created Dovile. Initially, I wanted to create the lower part of Pharkon with Unreal Engine via Niagara but when I sculpted the lower part as plan B, I actually liked it enough to upgrade it to my plan A. The lower part used to have its own material for opacity. I didn't like the result when I rendered it but I had already textured it in Substance 3D Painter, so I used the TextureSetCombiner in order to have both the upper and the lower part in one texture map. The lamp was modeled in Maya. I also rigged and posed this character manually in Maya and rendered him in Marmoset Toolbag 3.

Thanks for your attention!
