3D Character Modeling

3D Character Modeling || Mr. Bean, Rowan Atkinson

Mr. Bean, my favorite character as a child. I chose him as my character in modeling project  because I've loved watching Mr. Bean since childhood. I also admire his work in movies like "Johnny English" and his latest film, "Man Vs. Bee."

Idea for this project, I want to create a custom version of the older Rowan Atkinson as Mr. Bean. To honor the contribution of Rowan Atkinson, who has aged gracefully while remaining the timeless Mr. Bean of my childhood memories, I wanted to pay tribute through this project. So the character in this project will be old Rowan Atkinson with Mr. Bean cloth.

In this project, i took around six month to finish it. This is my first 3D character modeling in my life. My first experience creating an organic model was quite challenging, and I faced many difficulties along the way, such as study the anatomy of his face and doing the XGen etc. But in the end, I managed to overcome those challenges and successfully completed it.

During this project, I sculpted the head and body in Zbrush, and then utilized a base mesh for retopology using the Wrap software.I used and refined the XYZ texture in both Photoshop and Zbrush to ensure that it perfectly complemented my character model. Once the texture was complete, I proceeded to create the eyebow, eyelash, hair , and vellus by using XGen in Maya. Then, I utilized Marvelous Designer to create the clothing, and then conducted retopology within Maya to refine it further. After that, i proceed to do eyebrow, eyelash, and hair with XGen.

The image below showcases my character without hair, and I'm pleased with how it turned out.

However, when I began working on the hair, it presented significant challenges and caused me considerable frustration. Since this is mt first time doing hair with XGen, it is hard for me to control it. Below is the Final version of my character.

Due to time constraints, achieving the hair look proved more challenging than expected, and the outcome didn't meet expectations. But I'm glad I can complete this assignment, I will work hard to improve my skills in the future.

3D Character Modeling || EyeBall

Here is the 3D eyeball I modeled for my character, Mr. Bean.

I modeled it in Maya and sculpted the iris in Zbrush. For the texture, I manually painted it in Zbrush and then used the node editor in Maya to further edit it.

3D Character Modeling || Teddy Bear

The Teddy Bear is one of Mr. Bean’s iconic props. In my research, I discovered that there are various versions of the Teddy Bear featured in the Mr. Bean movies. Therefore, I selected a common and aesthetically pleasing version to model.In the progress, I sculpted it in Zbrush, then textured it using Substance Painter. Afterward, I compiled it in Maya and used XGen to add the fluff texture. Then use Arnold render in maya.

3D Character Modeling || Shoe

This is the shoe worn by Mr. Bean. I modeled it in Maya and applied textures using Substance Painter.

Hard Surface Modeling

Hard Surface Modeling || AWM Sniper

This is the first hard surface modeling project I've ever done in my life.

In this project, The hardest part is during the research phase. It is hard to find the correct structure of gun from internet, that has many different version of AWM. Finding detailed information about the internal mechanics of the gun was particularly challenging, as most available resources focused solely on its external appearance.

During the progress, I modeled it in maya and used Substance Painter for texturing. Then i used marmoset to render it.
