Round of applause for our sponsors

Dear viewers,

I am pleased to be able to present you my entry for the Rookie Awards 2024. After I successfully completed my intensive diploma course at Pixl Visn in April 2024, I specialized intensively in modeling, texturing and shading.

I look forward to inspiring you and welcome your feedback. Thank you very much for your attention!

                     Water Creature

I wanted to create with the water creature something that was a bit more special than my other projects. My idea was to model a realistic-looking creature out of an alien/fish creature.

Reference

For the water creature I started with a main reference. However, as with any of my projects, I wanted to create something in my own style, so I had to find more references of alien creatures.

Turntable

It was very difficult to make the skin look realistic on a creature that hopefully doesn't exist. But I'm happy with how it turned out and also proud that this is my personal favorite project.

                Stylized Adventurer

It is a stylized adventurer that I created with great attention to detail. The 3D model looks a little like me, which made the creative process even more exciting. I modeled her in Zbrush and designed her backpack in Autodesk Maya.

Reference

The reference search for me was very important to create right proportions. I looked for Disney and Fortnite proportions to create my own style

With the help of Mixamo I was able to breathe life into it and animate it. I completely reworked the skinning and joints myself to achieve the best possible result.

                              Anubis

I'm happy to introduce you to my last project! – Anubis: He is inspired by ancient Egyptian mythology. It was important to me to capture his powerful aura while adding my own creative touch. The project challenged me to improve my texturing and rendering skills and experiment with new techniques to improve the overall look of the character.

It was very important to find good references for the dog's head. It was very important to find good references for the dog's head. For this I took my references from Dobermans, as they have a very macant face and pointed ears.

With this project I wanted to learn more about anatomy, which is why I really studied the different muscle groups. Despite the fact that he is a mythical creature, it was important to me to give him the right proportions. Good references and a lot of knowledge about the human body were very important.

I also paid attention to the lighting and composition in Nuke, to achieve a visually appealing end result. Overall, the Anubis project was a valuable learning experience that allowed me to explore new tools and techniques in 3D modeling.

    MY STUDENT DEMOREEL

During the 18-month intensive diploma course at Pixl Visn, I was able to achieve the goals I had set for myself through disciplinary and structured work. As someone who had no experience in the 3D world, it was very difficult to find my way at the beginning. But because I'm motivated to learn new things and educate myself, I've been able to grow over time to get closer to my dreams.

I'm looking forward to an exciting future full of new possibilities!

Thank you for reading my entry!

Programs I used: Maya, Arnold, ZBrush, Substance Painter, Marvelous Designer, Quixel Bridge, Procreate, Nuke
