Star Baby

Star Baby is an animated short film about a child from the stars that discovers the nature of mortality. This film was created from start to finish in 10 weeks with a crew of 9 people, in a collaboration film class at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). The film was directed by Charlie Murray, and produced by Ashley Goldberg. The crew also includes Samantha Pacheco, Carla Haddad, Lucy Le, Emily Johnson, Anna Teske, Riley Newton, and Tabitha Lindsey.

Star baby is about remembering the things we love fondly, even though they may have left our lives. Everything moves in cycles--life and death, night and day, etc. Like Star Baby, we have to learn to be okay with the loss of the good things we used to have, and enjoy what memories our loved ones and loved experiences left behind. Being present in the moment means seeing what beauty the world has to offer, even if its a little emptier than before.

Character Design

This was our character design process for Star baby. Our goal with the design was to create a child-like entity that encapsulated humanity while still feeling alien and celestial. Star baby was designed by Lucy Le.

Environment Design

Our environment design process, which was done by Carla Haddad. We emulated a softer, watercolor feel with the layouts, taking inspiration from the works of Beatrix Potter.
