Character Modeling Porfolio
After my studies both as a prop artist and as an environmental artist in Animum, I embarked on the path of learning on my own a software that many of you will know, Zbrush.
The first days were very difficult, I didn't know where the tools where, the shortcuts and how to work on this software.
But nowadays I am proud of the progress I have made and I would like to share my best 3 character models here.
Chainsaw Man
I had done a lot of small jobs before this, but when I saw the final result, I really loved it, and I discovered a world from which I will never leave, the 3D character Modeling
This artwork is based on the famous chainsaw man anime
First Part
At that time I didn't have the confidence to create a hard surface model in Zbrush, so the first part of the model, the head, was created in maya.
Second Part
When I finished the head of the model I had to transfer it to zrbush and continue there, there were many errors that made me slow down, but in like 4 days of working non-stop I finished the character modeling.
After finishing my 3d model in Zbrush y made a fast retopology (not the best cause is not intended to be used in a video game ). I made the Uvs in Maya and then prepare to texturing on Substance Painter, there wasnt any problem in substance so in like 1 or 2 days the texturing was finished, the only part remained was the rendering
At first I had planned to render in Maya and Arnold but the results I was looking for were not what I wanted.
Thrid Part
When I showed the problem to one of my friends he suggested that I try the marmoset toolbag software, and he was right, as I tried it I loved it, it was the result I was looking for.
After watching a lot of videos of the software and seeing that it was capable, I started with it and this is the final result:
Sukuna
When I finished my chainsaw man artwork I wanted to make a character where I can study the anatomy a little bit. so i decide to create sukuna without a T-shirt.The process is similar to the previous one, only this time all of the 3d model is created on Zbrush
I let you see the final result here:
Link:Tears if The Kingdom
I have saved the best for last, this is the project that I like the most and where I put all my effort, I am a big Zelda fan so I do this work with a lot of love.
In this artwork, the first thing I did was take a lot of references and put them all together.
When I had all my ideas clear I started working directly in Zbrush, i begin with the pose, then i continue with the cloths
After you finish blocking the clothes, start sculpting the head and face in another scene, and then put them together in the original
After finishing the Head sculpt and the cloths, i put it togheder and continue with the artwork
When I mixed the 2 models and did the hair blocking, I learned how to make anime style hair and how to make it look cool, it was a very long process, but I think it was worth it
Now is time for the props, I went to Maya and made this 5 props
Then I put it all together and made the final touches like the hand or pose corrections.
Now all that remains is to do the UVs and start painting, a process that took me very little time and in less than 1 day I had everything to start with the renders.
And this is the result:
Extra Artwork
As I said at the beginning, I studied prop and environment modeling and although this year I focused on improving as a character artist, I define myself as a generalist and have continued making props and environments.
