Hello there !

Here's my entry for the 2023 Rookie Awards contest.

You'll find a selection of the pieces I got to make during my time at Artside School where I experimented with a lot of different types of concepts, styles and projects.

During this school year I discovered a lot of new things, in the future i'd love to focus more on visual development as a whole!

Environment concepts

The Steppe Common Room

Here's a project made during Elodie Mondoloni's class. The goal was to create a new architecture from different inspirations around the world.

Sacred Stage

Done during an a workshop with the amazing Karine Villette. We learned how to use blender to create a 3D based image for a concept while respecting a given blockout.

The idea was to create a sacred environment around a giant pipe organ, so big that we would wonder who could possibly be playing it.

Props Design

The Maestro's Sword

Made during Elodie Mondoloni's class. We were asked to use a prompt from the swordtember list and create a design around it. I went with the 'Music' theme and created this melodious sword.

VFX

Following the sword concept, i chose to develop some vfx around it during Jeremy Vitry's class. It was really fun to learn how to create these types of concepts !

Accross the River

This project was inspired by a character design made for Artside's Art test.

Naru is a young orphan who learned to survive on the river, catching fishes using his father's knowledge of the waters and trading them with the nearby villages. Surrounded by his unusual friends, he'll uncover a whole new danger in the depths of the river.

Splash Art

This artwork was made during FĂ©lix Donadio's class. We got to create various compositions and learn how to render an image as much as possible in the span of two weeks.

Creature Design

These creatures were made during two different classes with our mentor Jeanne Plounevez.

Gomu-Gomu

Gomu-Gomu is a gentle soul, while his kind can be pretty territorial, wild ones usual stay away from human. This one though, decided to stay on Naru's side, and has been a significant member of his odd family since day one.  Who knows, maybe this big glutton recognizes himself in the boy from the first time they shared a fish after a tiring day.

Garn'Larak

Garn'Larak is a dangerous monster living in the depth of the river, if you see its shiny shell under your boat it's already too late...

Character Design

The Faussaire curse : Mothers

The Faussaire curse was a project developed during Fabien Jacques's class. We had to create a dark fantasy duo.

The idea behind the curse was that the strange vice would only affect decaying bodies of people who died under tragic circumstances, bringing them back from the dead so they could live once again and realize their strongest wish or claim revenge upon their death.

But the only way they can interact with the living world is by passing through paintings and pictures, taking back the appearence of their past selves to relive treasured moments. Or stealing one's to achieve their wildest dreams.

Personal Project

'Odd Eye' animated illustration.

As a side project i decided to try and animate a simple illustration using Spine2d and After Effects. The goal was to test and learn as many things as possible on those unfamiliar softwares and try to replicate some of the  busy effects from the MV of the song 'Odd Eye'  by Dreamcatcher.

I got to experiment a lot without any technical limits and learned  so many things working on this project.

i'd love to try and make more animated pieces !

Thank you for stopping by !

It was really challenging to work on those projects, but i'm very grateful to all the teachers who shared their precious tips with us, and to all the kind classmates who took the time to help me on the making of these pieces.
