Moonsoul - Unreal Engine 5 Game Trailer
MOONSOUL is game trailer our team developed during semester B of our second year at University of Hertforshire
Moonsoul is a souls-like isometric game following the half-reaper Shin on a quest for revenge through 16th-century Japan.
During his journey, Shin must choose whether to side with the human side and release the human souls trapped by other yokai, or to consume and gain more power, but slowly become like the other monsters and his father he despises so much for taking the life of his mother. Unknowingly he holds the fate his nation is his palms.
Character
Shin is the main protagonist of Moonsoul. He is a half-reaper and the son of the Tengu Yokai, the king of all monsters. Shin is calm and resourceful, creating his scythe out of a sickle and a long tree branch. He is hellbent on chasing down his father and avenging his mother's death.
The Boar
The Boar is the main antagonist that Shin has to confront in the trailer. It has demolished and burned the village with its turquoise flames and made it its lair. Anything that moves is considered hostile to this monster, therefore it must be eliminated.
Environments
The trailer is set in a demolished rural Japanese village engulfed in turquoise flames. The main focus in terms of mood was to show that soft moonlight amidst all the fire. The team put a lot of effort into researching and making sure all buildings and assets were historically and culturally accurate to the time period.
