Modeling, Lookdev, Rigging - 2023
A collection of my best 3D projects.
Hello!
Here are my most successful 3D works.
Hare
The first goal of the project was to have clean topology. Even if we weren't going to animate our animal, we had to present a production-ready model that could support the usual deformations if it were to be rigged.
The other goal was to get an introduction at grooming. We discovered XGen and its workflow.
I particularly enjoyed working on this little guy. I find I managed to give him some personality with his bloodshot eyes and broken whiskers. Think of him as someone who has taken a lot of bad choices during his life which has provoked some trauma and loss of sanity. He is on the right path now though, trying to better himself. An obvious inspiration is the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland :).
Wasp
Another school project that introduced us to organic modeling.
Below you can see a part of the process behind the creation of the image.
Facade
The façade project was about creating a full set ourselves from concept to final animation. It showed us how to use a film pipeline and prepare us for the bigger team projects that were waiting for us.
Here are some of the concepts that I did for the project.
The little story happening in the video below is about Freiser who is trying to escape some angry dogs that are chasing after him.
I have done every aspect of this short except the modeling and rigging of the character. The Old Guy rig was provided to us by the school.
Anonylose
The Zapping project is the longest but also the most fulfilling one that I have done. We were 7 people in a team and we had 6 week of production to create a 20-second short.
I invite you to have a look at our article that shows all the aspects of the project: ANONYLOSE
My main role in our team was to do the rigs of the characters and the props, but I also had the pleasure to work a bit on character design and the sculpting/modeling of Jean, our hacker guy.
Rig
I was responsible for rigging the characters and the props. The new thing for me was the hair setup. We decided to simulate it in Maya with Dynamic curves. I also created a small tool in Python that helped us with the asset management.
Sculpt and Modeling
Sculpt in Zbrush. Retopology in Maya.
Concept Art
I did researches for Jean and made the final head turns that were used for the sculpting stage.
