RIG.B Texture Project

by FreyaStafford on 12 Feb 2023 for Autodesk - RIG.B

Project to take the mesh given and create textures for it. I am planning to make a mech covered in graffiti and stickers, something that could look like a fighting bot similar to those in the film Real Steel. I want it to look a little beat up but also still functional and like it can fight.

There were some issues with the first test render as the metallics were not showing as desired so these were tweaked in Maya until displaying correctly

Update - 5 Apr 2023

First application of textures to test in Maya compared to Substance with the final rendering lighting.

Update - 5 Apr 2023

The finished textures in Substance Painter with some stickers. I also added some colour as if he has been caught by spray paint in places and is old and a bit dirty.

Update - 13 Feb 2023

The beginning of experimenting with some metal and glass textures. The first metal texture that was created had a bit too much wear so it was adjusted to show more of the painted colour. There is still some gaps where the inside mechanisms will need to go as a different metal texture which will be worked on next.

Update - 12 Feb 2023

First step was inspecting the files given and the mesh to determine the best approach and any ideas for this project. All of the UV's were already prepared so it was pretty much ready to take straight into Substance Painter. While still in Maya, some investigation of the different poses available and starting to add some lighting and a simple backdrop.
