Nomori

Nomori is a mind-bending third-person puzzle game. Rotate portals to change your perspective, reverse the time-flow of objects to solve puzzles, and explore a twisted and magical spirit world. The game is currently in pre-alpha.

Enchanted works

Nomori is our graduation project for the Utrecht School of the Arts located in the Netherlands. The project is still in early development, but we have registered our start-up Enchanted Works and plan to publish the game at the end of 2024.

Portal Mechanics

Nomori uses rendertextures combined with shaders in order to create a recursive portal rendering. In order to minimize performance issues and communicate the different portals, we opted to slowly fade a render to a certain color.

Slice-shaders and clones are used in order to move objects through portals. Heavy math is used in order to control characters and grab boxes through a portal.

Time reversal 

The player can telekinetically grab objects and move them or even throw them. The object's location and rotation are recorded in time. By time-reversing objects that can potentially be in a different gravitational orientation, the player can create new pathways to solve puzzles by traversing the world.
