First of all!

This is my first time participating in the Rookies and I am very excited to be able to share with you some of the work I have done during this last year for my portfolio as a Character Artist.

I have decided to make a small reel as an introduction to what you will see below with more details in the post.

Princess Mononoke 

/3D Real Time Character/

Jude Smith created this character in the Apex Legends style. That for me was like a motivation to try and take it further in 3D as a game ready model since I love the game style.

It has been quite a challenge to make this project. It has been my most ambitious project of all the ones I have done so far but I had the opportunity to learn more about my process during this journey. Geometrywise, it counts with 93.6k tris approx. (without counting the base, which of course is from Megascans).

Untamed: When Animals Ruled the World - Artstation Challenge

/3D Real Time Character/

This project was a challenge from Artstation, the concept I chose was from the artist Jin Yi.

It was my first time submitting to an Artstation challenge and it was so much fun to share my progress with the community.

Among all the character design options that I liked, this was the one that caught my attention the most despite being a rough sketch. This was not an impediment to decide to do it in 3D.

One of the most interesting challenges of the project was trying to solve and give a little more meaning to the shapes that could be seen in the sketch. In this particular case, I was able to solve it by investigating much more the references that accompanied the original design on the moodboard. This led me to immerse myself a lot in the Tibetan culture where I found references for the outfit, accessories and other details that can be found in the design, of course I also gave it my personal touch and changed certain things that in my opinion were better in the final character.

Geometrywise, it counts with 92k tris approx. (without counting the base, which is from Megascans).

Eva ''Corta Gargantas'' Rodriguez 

/3D Real Time Character/

This project was the first character where I achieved the level of quality I only dreamed about.

It was super personal and very beautiful since it is a design made by my boyfriend Juan Camilo Vallejo and I did it with a lot of love by beign very careful with every detail, thanks to him because he was there throughout the process encouraging me, helping me and between the two of us we were able to get it to the level that I wanted!

I tried to get closer to the Apex Legend style since it was my main reference for quality!

This character belongs to a bigger project that he did, if you want to see more, don't hesitate to see his entry for the Rookies 2022!

Conclusion.

I hope you have seen a little bit of the hard work behind each 3D character.

Thanks to these projects I have understood the entire process of creating a 3D character and also with each one of them I realized how much I improved so whenever I look back I remember that it is possible and that thanks to the skills I have now I can face this type of projects trusting in my abilities!
