This is my 3D Character Demo Reel for 2022, which contains a collection of characters that have been created over the past year and a half whilst studying Design and Creative Technologies. I am responsible for all 3d elements that are shown, except for the kitbashed environment elements in the Panther Sci-fi scene.

Round of applause for our sponsors

The following projects have mostly centered around 3d character sculpting, as I would really like to focus on this specific area and further develop my skills. In my last project, I've also found a passion for hand painted textures and would love to explore how 2D and 3D art can be mixed to obtain interesting results in the future.

Persephone

This is my Final Degree Project. I really wanted to focus on creating a final render that correctly portrayed a story, so that the viewer could instantly recognize some traits that define the character's personality. My 3D model is a personal interpretation of the mythological figure of Persephone and shows her in the Underworld, right after eating the pomegranate seeds.

Software used: Zbrush, Substance Painter, Blender, Marvelous Designer, Maya and Photoshop.
Rendering: Arnold for Maya.

Panther: Anatomy Study

I had a lot of fun and learned a lot while working on this character for one of my courses last year. It was my first time facing a realistic animal and Xgen, so I'm quite proud of the result. I focused a lot on correct anatomy and researched a ton of reference pictures in order to make it look as close to a real black panther as possible.

Software used: Zbrush, Substance Painter, Blender, Maya and Photoshop.

Panther: Sci-fi scene

Using my panther model, I created "Intruder", which is the final project for one of my courses where I studied lighting. I wanted to challenge myself to create something realistic enough to look like a photo, but with a magical content and atmosphere. My main goal in this project was to work with light and create a specific focus on the character, whilst telling a story.

Software used: Zbrush, Substance Painter, Blender, Marvelous Designer, Maya, After Effects and Photoshop.

Wondergirl

Concept by the talented Mel Milton.
In this personal project, I wanted to focus on translating a 2d concept into a 3d sculpture to the best of my habilities and establishing a more well-rounded art style for my stylized characters.

Software used: Zbrush, Substance Painter, Blender and Maya.
Rendering: Arnold for Maya.

Joker: Likeness

Every year, I make a Halloween Render to see my progression. For last year's Halloween render, I went with a classic dark and halloween-y character: the Joker. I wanted to pay tribute to Joaquin Phoenix's performance once again and also challenge myself to create something a little bit more realistic.

Software used: Zbrush, Maya and Photoshop.
Rendering: Arnold for Maya.
