MA Directing Animation

This is the only two-year specialist Directing Animation MA. The course is world-renowned for being one of the most dynamic and creative animation courses. If you have a passion for storytelling, creating characters and the art of animation, the course will give you the skills to bring these passions to life on screen and help you develop into the filmmaker you aspire to be.
MA Games Design and Development
2 years full time, intake in January each year
NFTS Games aims to give you everything you need to make high-quality games across a range of styles, formats and platforms. Learn the practical skills and expand your creative knowledge to design, devise and build games, from inception to delivery, in our collaborative and innovative environment. You will collaborate with students from across the School – from composers and sound designers to marketing and distribution students – learning not only how to create games, but how to release them and promote them across indie games and Triple-A.
MA VFX (CG and Compositing pathways)
2 years full time, intake in January each year
Kickstart your Visual Effects (VFX) career with the NFTS. This course has a proven track record of providing the next generation of VFX professionals, the majority of which go straight into key roles on major productions. VFX are everywhere – from independent films to blockbuster productions, from commercials to games and immersive content. This course gives students extensive, practical training on real sets, in a VFX and animation studio, and in cutting-edge grading and finishing suites. Students work with the latest available software and camera technology and are taught by current industry artists, technicians and supervisors. VFX students are taught essential 2D and 3D VFX techniques and will go on to specialise in compositing or CG.
Motion Graphics and Titles Diploma
1 year full time, intake in January each year
Want to bring great stories to life through titles and motion graphics? This unique course, delivered in partnership with Sky, equips you with the skills required to become a film and television graphics designer. Become an innovator in your field by combining practical experience on a range of TV shows, films and digital content with industry work experience placements and intensive training in Photoshop, After Effects and Cinema 4D. One of the key benefits of the course is that it enables you to collaborate with fellow students from other specialisms and see first hand how your skills directly feed into the entire production process.
Indie Games Development Certificate
*6 months, part time online * Fulfil your creative potential by learning how to create independent video games. This six-month part-time certificate course explores the contemporary indie games landscape; including game design, creative business, technical development and marketing and promotion. This practical, hands-on course is for students seeking to run their own games business or for turning their hobby into a successful career.
Virtual Production (Filmmaking with real-time technologies) Certificate
24 weeks, part time blended
Build a virtual production career in this thriving and cutting edge industry. Virtual Production (VP) is a rapidly growing area of content production, and the UK is facing unprecedented demand for individuals with skills in this area. This course will introduce you to the core technical and filmmaking skills required to work on a VP project using an LED Stage driven by Unreal Engine. The course offers theoretical and practical experience delivered via weekly online seminars as well as approximately 6 weekends of hands-on workshops using our VP LED wall and facilities at the NFTS.
