Update - 8 Aug 2023

Hello Rookies! While ago I started challenge from youtuber → pwinsher to make an animated scene. The theme is  to replicate a Boss Fight from your imagination game. I don't want to be alone, so would be posting my work-in-progress here and other social medias:

twitter
telegram
instagram

and also here on The Rookies!

• First of all, the idea. A few weeks ago my friends and I played the board game Dune for the first time. It was fun and after that I decided to watch the 2021 movie with Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya at the casting to get to know the lore of this universe more closely. There were a lot of cool costume designs, architectural and just views. This film was directed by Denis Villeneuve, who was also the "cameraman" on Blade Runner, which I also really liked. So. My solution was to make a cool close-up scene with a WORM in ther desert in the Villeneuve style

You can see my first rough block here:

• I never ever worked with FX, VFX etc. I always concentrating on Characters Designs and some nearby stuff. But TODAY, I mean  4 days ago when I come this challenge, I decided to do full pipeline to make a shot including ALL these scary stuff of FX, VFX, XXF, XFFFXXFFXF etc.

Here you can see my first attempt to creating desert storm with nodes in Blender using Noise Texture:

I experienced incredible emotions when I saw what I had done with my own hands

• But the Worm sucks at that moment, aren't you? Looks like fluffy toy and not like a GIANT scary thing destroying all on their way. Correct, need improvement. Also I want to add some «atmospheric» vibe

Let's see what we have here:

YEAH! looks dope already

• But what with his teeth? Too inflate, need to fix. Also I put a light in hand to the character. I don't know what it is, but it gives a cool accent, need to think a little.

Cool

• A friend, let's call him Mister «G», gave me a good idea with the blue light accent. What if he wears a shield? WOW, that's what it needed, also matches the lore of the universe. So the next a few hours I learned how to create and animate shader that looks like a transparent shield around the character

• Let's see what we have at this stage:

✅ Cool worm
✅ Atmospheric vibe
✅ Animated shield effect
✅ Some textures and props
❌Details that pop-up the image
❌Uncertainty in composition

Let's make some variations of composition:

• I love all of these and can't pick up one to confidently continue to the next stages. Can you help me with it?

It is also necessary to improve the details, add more objects and create the «vibrance» of the image using the above! I have time, deadline is August 27!

Next updates will be added in a few days! Please support me with your opinion, I would be glad to hear you!
