A creepy toothfairy

The creepy little creature I present to you is a toothfairy based on Mike Mignola and Wayne Barlowe's concept and illustrations for the movie Hellboy.

Let's then move on to the stages of creating the sculpture.


First of all I focused on finding references that could help me in creating the subject.

I then moved on to sculpting in ZBrush, from the blocking phase, to the definition of the secondary volumes, and finally to the posing and detail definition phase.

Here you can see the final pose from different angles and some detail views.

Once the model was completed in ZBrush, I finally imported it into Maya to define the lighting. I wanted to use natural colors, to recall the animal and vegetal nature of the concept, combined with lights that conveyed anxiety, to underline its disturbing soul. I used cinematic references to create the lighting, examples of which you can see below.
