Round of applause for our sponsors

I realised quite early on that nothing quite hit that creative spot like animation did. The marriage of technical and creative elements suited me perfectly. The potential of this medium is boundless. Initially I was concerned by the unconventional nature of the career, but absolutely no regrets!

My first year at University. I was studying a course that I realized I was not interested in at all in the slightest. I was miserable and took some time to really explore what would make me the happiest. I always loved art and storytelling , so I searched “artistic degrees” , found Animation and I will never look back. I have found my passion.

It's been a life long dream as I was fascinated by drawing and performing action ever since I can remember. Only until when I was studying computer science 2017 I realized animation is my passion as I have stressed many other career paths

I was an avid 'behind-the-scenes' fan and would watch a film twice when renting it on the weekends. I grew up with 3D animation making its mark in Film and its always been a huge interest for me.

Animation has always fascinated me, especially in gaming. As a passionate gamer and art lover, I shifted from traditional drawing to 3D art, driven by my dream to become a 3D artist. Studying Visual Multimedia in Arts at the University of South Africa allowed me to refine my skills, leading to the achievement of a Digital Animation Diploma. Currently, I'm happily pursuing my passion at an animation studio and building my portfolio.

Passion for art at a young age.

Around 6th Grade of Primary school.

I started drawing since I was 5 years old, and have never stopped learning. I have a passion for Lighting, Shading, and Set Dressing now that I wish to persue

My interest in animation is started when I was very young, when I was a child, my favourite movie was the Brad Bird film “The Iron Giant”. Since then, I have pursued artistic endeavours my whole life, in particular drawing and music.

Since highschool, I've always wanted to be able to express creative ideas through visual story telling.

Around 2015 when I first went to a college to study graphic design so I could further develop my artistic skills before moving on to studying animation.

When I was in grade 7 I was addicted to playing The Sims. I started downloading mods off of tumblr. I then realised that I could make these myself. So i hopped on to milkshape and blender and started making my own mods. Ever since then, I knew that being in some part of the 3D industry would be where I belong.

As a fine art illustrator for the majority of my life, the choice to convert to digital art to further my career was an easy one. As soon as I began exploring how to make 3D environments my passion for immersive 3D world building took off.

I always wanted to be creative and do creative things so it was obvious for me to pursue an industry that could facilitate that.

I first realised that I wanted to work in the creative industry when I realised that I wanted to do something different and unique after school. My fascination for the creative industry lead me to study film and animation.

There was a moment where I was studying for a TEFL course and I had an urge to do something/anything else. Not wanting to game, exercise or relax; I picked up a pen and created my first creation in 6 years. That was the moment I knew I was hooked, the feeling of fulfillment due to the process of creating something still acts as a driving force to this day.

Films and games inspired me since a young age. Since I have wanted to work in the Industry.

It was in my early 20s. I have been studying something else at the time and I visited an animation lecturer. From there I decided to go forward with studying animation.

The moment I watched my first YouTube animatics and Short Films. It is incredibly cliché but motivation rarely comes from somewhere profound or aesthetic. From that moment on I wanted to tell all the stories locked up in my cerebral vaults in a visual medium and have people feel represented and seen.

I have always loved watching films and the way they were made, so when I realized it was possible for me to one day be able to be a part of this industry, I had to take the chance and apply to college to learn more, and when I first started I knew this is what I wanted to do with my life.

I first realized I wanted to work to work in the creative industry middle primary school, when I was still a young boy

When I saw a glimpse of what life in a gaming studio is like in the movie Grandma's Boy, I wanted to be a part of it ever since then. Albeit a lot of what was shown was completely for entertainment purposes, I still loved seeing a bit of how the creative process goes when it comes to video games. I've been in love ever since then and here I am now.
