Round of applause for our sponsors

One thanksgiving, when I was talking to family about my future career, I was telling them how much I liked to draw, to write, to design and create my own characters and universes for fun. It wasn't until my uncle pointed out that those hobbies of mine could actual become a career that I began to fully devote myself to this world.

I've been creating something to express myself since I was young, and choose to study Fine Arts in Undergraduate. Through taking various courses from different majors I got interested in experimental animation and realized that time based media can also be a great way to express myself. Also, I was always in love with 2D tv animation and fascinated by the fact that it can spread the message to all range of age. Since then, I've wanted to work in animation industry and make something beautiful.

I've always been academically focused and originally intended to pursue biology, but when I allowed myself a break cartoons were my solace. Watching them, learning about how they were made, and drawing on my own brought me such joy between my weeks of scholarly focus. After a semester at college studying Bio I realized that was not my passion, and decided to pursue art. I always sort of knew I wanted this, but only stopped to think about it in January 2019.

Not to be all "I've wanted to do this ever since I was a kid" but I've wanted to do this ever since I was a kid.

When I was young, animated shows have been a place that made me feel as though nothing could harm me, that i was not alone, and that there was hope in a better tomorrow for all needing guidance. Ever since I have dedicated my years to become an animator, wanting to create something that i could be proud of. I too wanted to create a piece of film or show that could bring family together and to make many children of the world happy. Only then i would know i have found my purpose for living.

I was always an artist for as long as I can remember but I realized I wanted to work in the entertainment industry at a young age after discovering the world of video games.

During my first year of high school, a friend of mine showed me the pilot for RWBY and I instantly fell in love with the bombastic animation that then helped me realize how much I loved video games and animation and how much time I spent analyzing it. I always liked traditional arts and wanted to see what the digital world had in store.

I first realized I wanted to work in the gaming industry ever since I could pick up a Playstation one controller. I started gaming when I was two years old and never turned back. I was amazed at the worlds and adventures I could go on. It inspired me to draw on everything to create my own universes. As I grew older I had gained the desire to turn the drawings I've created into actual tangible environments. This led me into my path to becoming a 3D artist in order to fulfill that desire.

My first realization is not too long ago, probably during senior year in high school, where I wanted to do something more artistic and meaningful. And I was in an art high school at that time, so I got a lot of help from my teachers and taking online classes. Also, life events led me to look for opportunities to work in the creative media and entertainment industry.

I think most people who knew me as a child would say that I was very curious and that curiosity has brought me to this intersection of creativity and technology.!

When I graduated high school.

I became fascinated by animation at age 12 after watching a documentary on Nick Park and Aardman Animation. I studied traditional animation for undergrad, and am still fascinated by it. I have always felt a need to be creative and to look at things creatively.

At the end of my high school years

I've always loved storytelling, but it wasn't until I saw Sanjay's Super Team presented by director Sanjay Patel himself that I realized that I could share my own story that could impact those around me.

I grew up with a strong fascination for creatures and fantastical characters. As a child I remember being drawn to those documentaries with early cg and stop motion dinosaurs. Films such as Toy Story, Jurassic Park and Lord of the Rings really pushed my interest in cg characters and by the end of high school I knew I wanted to become a 3D animator.

Several years ago, I began researching schools that would refine my talents as a visual artist. For many years, I have studied music for film and television as well as visual art and I love the emotive feelings that sound and vision can relinquish to the viewer. After spending several years learning the craft at School of Visual Arts I have created my first short film.

Before I applied SVA, I knew nothing about CG and any kind of creative media, and I didn’t know what I should do in the future. I was hesitating between filmmaking(DP) and post-production. Since I never really tried them in practice, but after I got on the study trip to SVA, the more courses I took and the more fields I got in touch, the more I feel like I am more a computer arts and creative media artist, especially lighting and texturing specifically.

When I watched the first Harry Potter film that was gifted on DVD to me. I found myself more interested in the behind the scenes than the actual film. I'm not sure how many times I watched it,but I told my parents they were magicians and I wanted to be just like them creating worlds of magic.

I've been an artist since I was a kid, and when I discovered this career path I was extremely excited. With the release of new films, games, etc. as well as older movies to look at and learn from, there's a constant stream of media that continues to inspire me to work harder.

I've wanted to for as long as I could remember. It's hopped between a few fields, but when I turned 12 and I watched Steven Universe for the first time in an animation class, I knew this is what I was destined to do.

I first realized I wanted to work in the animation industry in middle school when I got serious with art and animation. Since then I've developed my skills and reinvented my creative identity to what I am today!

As a child growing up with unlimited internet access, I would frequently discover thesis films, whether 2D or CGI. I would follow many of the artists who worked on these short films and see the evolution of their work, as well as the captivating story telling, and it encouraged me to pursue being apart of a team in order to create unforgettable media!

Growing up with a working mom meant spending a lot of time on my own during my childhood. In those moments of solitude, 3D animated shows on TV became my treasured companions, unforgettable memories in my heart.
