Uncover Hidden Talent: Hire the World’s Top New Digital Artists
I started taking art seriously in 2022, but my passion for it began in childhood through participating in local drawing competitions. While concept art is a relatively recent pursuit for me, my influences have long been established icons such as Walt Disney, Stan Lee, Satyajit Ray, and Miyazaki. Witnessing their work has instilled in me a desire to someday create my own imaginative world.
I always enjoyed anime and games since I could remember but never realize till very late in the middle of a mentorship i had when i was studying jewelry design my mentor said that I shouldn't pursue jewelry as it does not suit me and that the job for illustration and designing games existed! If not culinary. After I started playing Zelda: Breath of the Wild late in 2020 I knew that I want to go into this industry as the game made me love games all over again.
I loved drawing as a kid, and I kept doing it throughout the years because it was fun playing with different ideas, and rewarding to actualize these ideas into a drawing. I realized I wanted to work in the creative media and entertainment industry when I realized that I could put the skillset I developed to use and make a living from it. As a person that attains fulfilment from solving problems visually, I think this industry is one that I can contribute to, and thrive in.
Around the age of 10~13 I had gotten really into video games, and had poured 100s of hours into them. Back then I didn't know about the existence of the creative media and entertainment industry but I knew I wanted to make things like the games I was playing, leading me down the path of art and finding out about the industry.
I pretty much always knew that I wanted to be in the creative media and entertainment Industry! After completing a gruelling 4 years of engineering, I knew for sure that art, drawing and animation are my true passions and what I wanted to pursue and make a career out of! I am going to be in the July 2022 batch of the Concept Design and Illustration Course in 3dsense Media school to cement my dedication of becoming a professional artist!
When I was about 5 my uncle showed me Diablo on his PC and I instantly fell in love. From then on I got fascinated with games, who made them and how did they make them. Since then I have been trying to self teach myself art and programming. Went to polytechnic and got into the course I wanted. Now I am just trying my best to break into the industry and improving myself.
I've always self-taught to draw realistic pencil drawing for four years since middle school and I am deeply interested in adding small details. One day I found Adam Fisher on YouTube and his magnificent 3D sculpting. I realized we share the same realistic art, but he's a 3D artist. I decided I want to focus on 3D art and from that moment, I set my goal to polish my talent in the entertainment industry.
When I was little, I was actually more interested in sports. But I had a couple of older brothers that preferred to just stay indoors and play video games, and I was really curious as to why that would be more intriguing. Naturally, I just sat behind them and observed one afternoon, and found myself mesmerised by the art on the screen and sucked into their world of play even when I wasn't even using the controller. I think that was the defining moment.
It has always been my hobby to draw and create things. I would dedicate my free time to creating things that were inspired by my surroundings, for example, that rustic soap packaging design, to how a certain mechanism works for a weapon from a certain game. While I was trying out different career options after graduation, I noticed that I would always use design to adapt to the new work environment. This made me realized that I could make it part of my career.
I was in the middle of my military service when I decided I had to really go for something I loved. As a Mechanical Engineer and then later an Aircraft Mechanic I realized I was not happy. I love art and video games. They helped me get through some of the hardest times and taught me more about life than anything else. When I found out I could combine both passions into a career I knew where my next journey was going to be.
Inspired by various animated shows and illustration, with a keen interest to learn about art, I decided to take up this challenge and pursue the course Animation and 3D Arts during Ngee Ann Polytechnic. I learnt lots of valuable lessons and interesting knowledge in different aspects of art. However, during my internship and working as a junior artist, I become more aware of my goals and decided to pursue as a motion & graphics designer.
I’ve always been influenced by media while growing up; manga and anime had been a huge inspiration. After learning more about the creative industry in recent years, I immediately went back to school to pursue this path. I am constantly looking for new things to learn and improve to make this once hobby my livelihood.
