Update - 14 Apr 2021

I rendered separate .exr for the shield as it has multiple layers. This made compositing it easier to change the colours to show what gets the most impact. I tried to look closely at Wanda's power to match the colour scheme used to represent her powers. I added sparks to the impact between the shield and claw, as it'll be similar to an energy field being hit by an object emitting sparks. I used Houdini for the compositing as it is the only free software I can have lmao.

Due to certain circumstances, I was unable to finish the project to the due date however I will finish the final project to show peers as the whole project was fun and a good learning process.

Update - 14 Mar 2021

For the style of the shield, artistically I loved the colours used to portray Wanda's power. As I felt the contrast between red, white and darker shades complimented well with each other. I started to test render the outcome look of the shield however didn't like what the results produced since when I looked closely at Wanda's power, it's more volume-based than particles. I found it difficult to keep the present shield pattern design as volume but easier as particle so I may turn them to geometry lights for the newly designed shield. Although I'm closer to the results I'm seeking, I'm still re-tweaking the claw interaction with the shield to create a ripple effect.

Update - 14 Mar 2021

I decided to create a shield/barrier for defending against the creature's attack. I thought of having a patterned designed shield similar to Dr. Strange's abilities as it was more commonly known. I explored anime battle sequences since they had some intriguing designs, so I created a procedural subnet to create different shapes and sizes as I thought if given to an artist they had the creative ability to make their own.
