The Yellow Submarine Kombi

Final Entry.

First render.

With the stickers I was trying to create a psychedelic look that reminds of hippie 70's.  

I started to add some stickers. At first I was thinking to paint some of them directly in Substance Painter; however it was way easier to make them in photoshop and use them with projection in Substance.

With the main materials and lights ready I could work on some dirt masks to add more realism to the model.

I found out about this contest 3 days before the end, so I decided that I will keep my workflow and overall project quite simple but interesting. First step after baking the maps I established main colours and materials for the van. Because my inspiration is mainly The Yellow Submarine I went for a vibrant yellow/orange colour for the base.

Inspired by The Beatles Yellow Submarine graphic I dived into a sea of psychedelic artworks related to the band and I ended up making a Volkswagen Bus for any Beatles fan.
