Cyberpunk Real-Time University Project

This is my submission for a real-time project we were tasked to complete at university. I decided to base mine on a cyberpunk theme, as it's a style I have always admired, even more so with the announcement of the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 game.

Here is my submission for a real time university project, in which we were tasked to model, texture and light an environment, as well as sculpt, texture, rig and animate a character to be used in conjunction with this environment. I wanted to create a cyberpunk themed submission, as I have always had a fondness for future tech, although the announcement of the Cyberpunk 2077 game by CD Projekt Red had further cemented my adoration for the style. In terms of the animation used for this character, we had mocap data captured specifically for each of our submissions in our universities own mocap suite. I personally feel that I have captured the cyberpunk feel well within my submission, and made use of a range of textures and dynamic objects & lighting to make it feel more alive. For this project, it was the first time I had used Unreal Engine 4, however I found it very easy to get a grasp of, and I am confident in my ability to use it sufficiently. In terms of other software I had used, Substance Painter was the most used, simply due to the amount of texturing I had to do, and the fact that a lot of textures involved careful placement of alphas to get the effect I wanted. I am proficient in Substance Painter,  due to my natural artistic aptitude and experience using it before - this project only helping to further strengthen my skills within it. The least used programs were Maya and zBrush - both of which I am proficient in due to prior usage of them. However, they were used the least for this project, as despite there being quite a lot of elements to sculpt/model, I find that the speed in which I complete sculpting/modelling related tasks quickens each time. Overall, I am happy with my submission, especially since I only started creating CGI work 2 years ago, and it was the first time I had used Unreal Engine 4.

Please note - For this submission, we were asked that everything be made by ourselves, and that if you were to use secondary sources, then you would have to edit them and reference them. For my submission, everything was created by myself, apart from the music of course, which I referenced below.

The music used - Derezzed by Daft Punk (from the Tron Legacy OST.)
