The Man Of Tomorrow
With this project I wanted to make something that really felt like classic Superman, the one that's a symbol of hope. I modeled the basic version of the scene in Blender, before importing and fine tuning in Maya. I made the texture in Substance Painter, before rendering in Arnold.
The Suit
The suit design created for the shot is a modified version of the suit worn by Brandon Routh in Superman Returns, and by Tom Welling in Smallville. I tried to create a design that brings together classic and modern Superman, keeping the red trunks. I used an ambient occlusion mask to darken certain areas, similar to the suit used in Justice League, making the muscles stand out more
The Daily Planet
Like the suit, the Daily Planet building was based off the one shown in Smallville, which was filmed using the Marine Building in Vancouver. Only the upper floors were modeled, using an array modifier in Blender.
