A compilation of my best character pieces. Entirely self-directed, with the intent of creating and presenting clean topology and Entirely self-taught across two years, I continue to work endlessly to improve my character creation skills.

I created the above character as a part of my master's thesis, which involved turning a 2D concept (created by me) into a 3D realistic version, and then a 3D stylized version. I used quality bars similar to Final Fantasy and focused primarily on texturing/materials to achieve realism. The maximum tricount for this character is 72k, and was completely hand-retopo'd in Maya. This was also a great chance for me to improve my topology and texturing.

This project was for me to do a deep-dive on hair card creation, texturing, and small accessories. I used Critical Role's Taliesin Jaffe's character Mollymauk Tealeaf as my subject.

I learned a lot about hair card setups, and used Naughty Dog's hand-placed method as a reference. This also was not meant to be a real-time asset, so I allowed myself to use denser topology for smoother silhouettes.

This project is my 3D rendition of Koudai Watanabe's characters from his artbook, Kung-Fu Piggy-One. I wanted to focus on creating a piece that was vibrant and fun, as well as highly stylized. I also wanted to set this up as if it were an anime figurine. I had plans to create a fake merchandise boxing but thought it detracted from the overall goal of this project. Perhaps I will go back in and do that for fun :)

The goals of this project were: Clean topology (as always), lighting, and presentation.

This project is part of my 3D&D Personal project series - I really enjoy the freedom and breadth that creating NPCs for D&D campaigns can bring, and I wanted to bring one of them to life in addition to creating props and a small environment that accompanied the character.

This was my first time using Marvelous Designer for the creation of all clothing.

This one was the most ambitious in terms of creating props, environment, and a character.
