Mr X Super Tyrant Fan Art & The Father Character

These characters we're what I've been spending my time on as of recent. Only one of them is a game character but I decided to put the other one in as the things I've learned from making them I consider invaluable.

Round of applause for our sponsors

This is my first ever game character that  I've worked on a few months ago, it's a fan art of Mr X (Super Tyrant) from Resident Evil 2.

Concept Art was taken from the amazing game Resident Evil 2: Remake.

Aesthetics and anatomy played a major part in how i approached sculpting this guy as well.

With substance painter, I could add a lot of color variations easily with the tools available to me in it as an attempt to not have the textures feel flat as much as possible.

I wanted to make sure for this character that the topology was functional and usable for production. I even had a friend of mine do a simple rig on it for me to make the final pose in.

The total polycount for this model is 34312 Total Tris

This was a character I made not for games but for a short film project for my school 3DSense Media School, wanted to put this here not for the game development aspect, but for the things I learned in working in a team of people striving to achieve the best quality possible in the 6 months time frame we had. Making this character taught me a lot on how to make a functional character for production and a lot of the problems that could come with it.

Roughly 2 months was spent on him, from start to finish, including going back and forth between myself, concept artists, riggers, and animators to make sure the model could accommodate our needs. Also the fact that stylized was a new thing for us was also a new hurdle we had to learn how to jump over.

one of the plethora of challenges that came with this project was the fact that the modelers in the team had to learn a new software: Houdini and Redshift. We had to quickly get used to doing these new things as we decided it was best suited for our pipeline.

We needed 2 versions of the lookdev, a dry one and a wet one for the purposes of the film. So here are some comparisons

P.S. fun fact, I even had to learn 3D Animation and FX Lookdev for this project both of which were not my specialty.

-All in all, with all the knowledge from my experience doing all my projects in the 1 year spent in 3DSense Media School, making the game character, and the short film project for 6 months, that has made me into an artist that not only understands the technicalities of making nice characters and environments but one that also understands what it takes to be a valuable member of a team achieving the best we possibly can within the set amount of time we were given.-
