Spare Hands VR

by rday2 on 7 May 2024 for Rookie Awards 2024

Spare Hands VR is a 15-20 minute VR game made entirely by myself for me senior Thesis at Ringling. You play a game of catch with your duplicates above a bottomless pit in a dark towering prison in a desperate bid to escape. A very unique concept that can only be executed in VR

STORY

In the magic-based society of Felmire, the people live in an industrious and utopian society built on the foundation of a labour class of hivemind entities called “Egregores.” Each one is entitled to some kind of taskin the society. For example, one could run an entire factory where all the workers are mentally connected.

However, when so much faith is placed in individual hiveminds, there’s always a chance one could cause some trouble. So that’s where Nemo comes in; a prison specifically designed to contain Egregores who go against the better of society.

CONCEPT

You find yourself hanging in one of many cages in a prison built for hivemind entities, all the prisoners in the other cages are you and they share your mind and are synchronized with your movements. In a mad rush to get to a meeting, the guard accidently pushes one of your bodies infront of the control panel and drops the key.
So now you must get the key to the prisoner at the control panel through a game of catch you play amongst your own duplicates in order to escape.
