I'm currently working on my concept art portfolio, so I let you here some of my favourite art works I have done for it. I will explain my working process and the ideas and sensations I want to give my audience.

I hope you like it!

"The Melancholic Tangerine" is the first one. This is the story of a Chinese princess from the Qing dynasty, so selfish with her people that she was punished by the Ancestors by turning her into a tangerine tree. From then on, she always offered her fruit to anyone who needed it.

The quid of the project was to create a natural setting that would be the habitat of the tangerine, and to carry out a study of how different climates would affect that place.

To create the garden, I was inspired by the works of the famous 40s-50s Disney conceptual artist, Mary Blair.

I seek to reflect a place of peace and balance, which I have visited many times in my dreams.

I did a large number of sketches and color studies before deciding to choose a final Tangerine.

I was looking for that delicacy and ancestral colors that the scrolls and books of feudal China have.

It was very interesting to create a hybrid between human and tree, since the main point of the design was that balance between a delicate and unfortunate princess, and a fruit tree.

Another of my projects, and my personal favourite, is "The Mahjong Mix",  a character study based on an original idea of mine: it is about a secret society determined to annihilate humanity to recover the planet Earth, and led by the twelve animals of the Chinese horoscope.

Here I created six perfectly distinguishable and iconic cartoon characters, with which I tried to represent their charisma as much as possible just in the figure and expressiveness of their silhouette.

I did more than three hundred sketches until I decided on the group's final look. It was very fun to try different shapes, styles on each animal, to give them that charisma that I wanted to give them.

To test the effectiveness of the characters, I created two illustrations in which I observed how they functioned in an environment, and whether they were as fluid as I desired.

The last of my projects for the first portfolio is inspired by a Spanish story, "The Castle of No Return". It is a twisted story of knights, princesses and witches. Two twin brothers separate when they turn eighteen to try to fulfill their dream of becoming knights, and endless adventures happen to them.

The style sought to be simple and conceptual since it is a story for children, but with a slight sinister and macabre tone in line with what is told in the story. It also has a slight hint of surrealism, one of the favorite artistic currents.

The use of colors and shapes tries to be as clear as possible, seeking to convey emotions in both characters and landscapes (the cursed castle is a clear example).
