Synopsis of Yao Xi Jie

In a dystopian fantasy world where Yaos (妖) lived in oppression of Humans, a mysterious circus roams the lands in promise of a safe haven for the Yaos. Qing Yun finds herself joining the circus while looking for her captured partner one night, but the circus may not be what it seems.

About the Characters

QING YUN

Qing Yun is a Serpent Yao, a rare species that lives deep within the ocean, rarely surfacing above water. She comes ashore to look for her lover when he was captured by Ren one night but passes out on land and is then found by Qi An.

Ling Duo is a Silkworm Yao, the princess of a clan that was annihilated by Ren. She joined the circus as a trapeze artist and later on befriended Qing Yun as well.

QI AN

Qi An is the only human in the circus. After a traumatic experience as a child left him with an evil and dark alter, Qi An started the circus with the intention of being the savior of Yaos. Although he is seen as the kind and loving circus master, Qi An murders the Yaos in secret with the twisted belief that that is the only way the demons can be free.

REN

Ren is a Spider Yao who was ostracised due to his inability to spin silk. Enraged, he killed all in his clan and even went after the Silkworms, burning them in a fire to obtain their silk. The massacre ignited something within him, and he started killing just to quench his insatiable thirst for blood.
