Meet Granny's Little Man

Update - 29 Dec 2023
Here I am, as promised, presenting the ultimate iteration of my petite companion, the MeetMat. I am delighted with the outcome, as it perfectly captures the vision I had hoped to realizeβevoking the cherished memories of a childhood steeped in the art of sewing.
You should know that my mother was fueled by a fervor for both colors and sewing, and this may well be the origin of my affinity for textures. Additionally, my delightful foray into the world of figure skating, marked by competitive contests and performances, consistently drew me into collaborations with tailors, grappling once more with their extensive rolls of fabric.
For me, wood and fabric transcend mere materials; they are captivating scents, and, in unison with boards, they embody a rich spectrum of colors.
With the crafting of MeetMat, my aspiration was to beckon you into this intimate and faraway realm as well.

I've been very busy with my personal work during this time but I couldn't wait for The Rookies to start this challenge so I don't give up
A few days ago, I visited a seamstress my mother works with, and it sparked a fresh perspective on how I would perceive the concept of my MeetMat. I thought it would be a fantastic idea to dress him in some customary tailor's accessories, like a pair of glasses, sewing scissors, and a sketching pencil.
I'll be honest, when it comes to my options, I'm torn between two ideas. I prefer to wait and choose carefully rather than rush into a decision, risking an outcome that might not align with my preferences, much like making a hurried choice about my left foot or right arm.
Certainly, this week I'll update you with the final version of the concept, so stay tuned.
These will certainly be the references that I will use to give shape to my meet mat

Apologies for the lack of posts recently, as I've been immersed in creating my personal showreel. This challenge coincided with a period of intense commitments for me, making regular updates a bit challenging. Nevertheless, I'm here now, eager to share the alphas I've crafted in modeling for applying them with displacement on the model. Everything showcased in the screenshots represents the outcome of displacementβan initial step towards achieving even more significant results!
Moreover, despite my initial inclination towards manual work, I've come to realize that the curve tool allows for precise and secure creation of shapes that would have been challenging to achieve with a simple brushβperhaps requiring numerous attempts.
Coming soon, I'll show more results achieved using the curve tool. I'm enthusiastic about learning and applying."

I am thrilled to present my new project here on The Rookies.
The first time the MeetMat challenge took place, I had no knowledge of 3D β it's incredible how time has passed. After MeetMat Kabab, I am excited to introduce πππππππ ππ«ππ§π§π²'π¬ ππ’πππ₯π πππ§.
This concept is deeply connected to collective Italian childhood memories, evoking heartwarming images of a grandmother with needle and thread, a thimble, and, most importantly, a box of Royal Dansk biscuits.
π¦ππ’π¨π§ π’π¨π§ to my fellow Italians: have you ever found biscuits in there?
Here is a preliminary sketch of how my MeetMat is going to be! I am aware that there will be many changes, but this is the current idea.
I'm challenging myself this time by exploring various materials, including wool, metal, cotton, and plastic. The wool ball might prove to be the most challenging, but I'm curious to see the results, so stay tuned. I will be using the Displacement and Curve tools to ensure success in this project; they will undoubtedly be very useful to me!
