Valhalla

I have a strong interest in Norse culture and I also love playing video games and watching movies that are based on it. Which is the reason I choose my first project around this setting. I wanted to depict the vision of this place that appear in my head in 3D. For this project, I mainly use 3dsMax and Zbrush for modeling. I use Speedtree for the tree and Marvelous Designer for the fabric props. I use RizomUV for UV unwrapping. And for texturing, I use Substance Painter. Some of the props such as a firepit campfire and leaves are from Epic Games. The wall and floor textures are also megascans.

For architecture, I want to create something quite raw yet luxurious. This is why I tried to mix different art styles from different periods and cultures to make them match the visions. I tried to mix Roman, Artdeco, Scandinavian-Romanesque, and Nordic architecture together.

For the props, I try to base them on the real-world object which Norse people used in that period and sometimes add something related to the culture into the prop design. I've found that the museum website is a good source of references for this purpose.

Blockout

Blockout I've done in 3ds Max and then imported into UE5.
