The Man Who Planted Trees - Stop motion
In the context of my visual arts and drawing class, I had to create a stop-motion animation based on the short story "The Man Who Planted Trees" by Jean Giono using the stop-motion technique, frame by frame animation. I had the opportunity to choose how to interpret the story.
I used drawn lines and textures to evoke the concept of memory. In the story, the narrator speaks in the past tense, which gave me a profound feeling of nostalgia when I read it. Therefore, there is a passage in black and white until the narrator meets Elzeard, where a warm color is added to show his great humanity. All the colors finally return when Elzeard spreads them everywhere in the world, representing everything he has given during the long years of planting trees.
