Carolina's Rookie
I have always been a fan of fantasy and Sci-Fi themes. From an early age, I enjoyed designing creatures and the environments that they inhabit. Thanks to the knowledge that I have now, I feel like am able to bring them to life, so it is a pleasure to share them with all of you.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Carolina, and I'm thrilled to present my submission for the 2023 Rookie Awards. This project is a compilation of my best pieces since emerging into the 3D modeling world last year.
The idea for this project started when I was conducting research about mythological and fantasy creatures that represented the result of combining different animal body parts, and I became inspired to create my own. In the case of the creatures that I am sharing today, the first is a sassy combination of a squirrel and a basilisk. The second submission represents the adorable and playful result of combining a deer and a slug.

For the technical aspects of these projects, I used Maya for the blocking and modeling stages, and Mudbox for the sculpting. Since these models did not require retopology, I used Substance for all of the painting and texturing details. Small details, such as the hair of the creatures, were crafted using X-Gen, and all of the composing was orchestrated by Nuke.
The entire creative process has been an amazing journey, and I thank you for your time and consideration. I hope you end up loving both of these creatures as much as I do!
