Round of applause for our sponsors

Hola Hola!

I'm Manny Cruz! I'm a motion designer from Puerto Rico currently studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD).  When it comes to art I like to play with different mediums so whether it's through illustration, sewing,  video editing, or animation; I always try to incorporate the idea of exploration, experimentation, and having fun when making art.  Currently, I've been on a journey finding new ways to combine my passions of motion and fashion.

Below is a collection of work I've done during my time at SCAD. Hope you enjoy it! <3

The Haunting of Bly Manor

-Title Sequence-

A collaborative project reimagining the title sequence for the Netflix Original series, The Haunting of Bly Manor. We redesigned it to emphasize the series’ intertwining connections of horror, emotion, and complex storytelling. With this in mind, our design focuses on depicting places of significant importance in the series, which serves as a device to foreshadow the overarching plot without revealing the story at hand. Stylistically, the project is a combination of different styles such as illustration, 3d techniques, and 2d animation; allowing for a calming, yet slightly unsettling feel that fits the characteristics of The Haunting of Bly Manor.

The Charm Offensive

-Title Sequence-

Movie title sequence inspired by one of my favorite books, The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochran. The use of abstract design and subtle pastels emulate the fairytale softness of the book. To capture one of the books points of confusing digital life with real life, I used scanned images of pencil marks and used them as textures in Cinema 4D.

Softwares: Maxon Cinema 4D, Adobe After Effects

Logo Resolves

A two-part project creating logo animations for some iconic brands.

-Coach-

Coach is a specialty designer, retailer, and manufacturer of fine leather goods and accessories. Since it was founded in 1941, Coach has been a huge name in the fashion industry. When approaching this project I wanted to be respectful and pay homage to their heritage and longstanding brand identity, but at the same time give them a refreshing and modern take on a classic logo.

-Glossier-

Glossier is a skincare, makeup, fragrance, and body care company founded by Emily Weiss in 2014. They're known for their millennial pink and overall clean minimal aesthetic. Although in recent years they've been rebranding to have a more playful and youthful presence in the beauty market. When designing their logo animation I kept in mind their brand aesthetics which include soft pastels (mostly pink}, and the occasional pop of bright vivid colors like cherry red. The final product was a logo animation inspired by their iconic packaging such as their pink pouches and seasonal stickers. Oh and before I forget... YOU LOOK GOOD.

Softwares: Adobe After Effects, Adobe Illustrator

That's all! :) Hope you enjoyed everything and thank you so much for taking the time and going through my work. Please feel free to get in touch with me at mnnyfest.com

Sending some love <3  -Manny
