Lilly Apostolova - Character Cocepts

Nomad is a stylized character design project, where my goal was to create whimsical characters inspired by the early designs for Journey as well as the art of Moebius and Victor Mosquera. 

The idea was that they inhabit a world where there is a strong superstition against fire, so inhabitants go out of their way to avoid it and do not use it in any of their craftsmanship. For this reason I aimed to create designs that could be achieved without the aid of fire for the 'good guys', trying my best to make them look, for the lack of better words, soft, while the evil Bandit queen has no such moral qualms and embraces fire in the form of using metalwork in both her armor and weapons.

These characters were created as part of a post apocalyptic project, where the goal was to design a duo who survive and thrive in a modern dystopia.
