"Roshar" is my final master project at FX ANIMATION. As an enthusiastic reader and unconditional fan of author Brandon Sanderson, I wanted to base my project on one of his greatest epic novels. It is a series of novels called "The Stormlight Archive". This project is mainly based on the first novel titled "The Way of Kings", where the adventure of three of the first radiant knights begins and introduces us to the world of Roshar, which is part of a larger universe on which he bases all his novels, the "Cosmere".

Kaladin Stormblessed

Kaladin is one of the main characters around whom the first novel revolves. He is a young soldier who is sold into slavery and becomes involved in a war where he is assigned to a bridge gang. These bridges are used to cross the enormous chasms that the armies must cross to fight the battle against the Parshendi.

Dalinar Kholin

Dalinar is the high prince of Kholinar, one of the principalities that are part of the Alethkar nation. He is the brother of King Gavilar, who was killed by the Parshendi, which started the war.

He is a tough warrior with a reputation for brutality since his youth. He is now famous for his honour and his rigidity in upholding the precepts that mark the customs of war.

It is important to note that this character is a full shard wielder. Therefore, a shardplate and the "Oathbringer" the shardblade have also been designed.

Shallan Davar

Shallan comes from a noble family that has fallen into disgrace after the death of her father. She and her siblings discover that she has been gaining her wealth through the use of a fabrial banned by the Vorin church, and after his death, they discover that she has run up huge debts and that this fabrial has been destroyed and is claimed by dangerous people. Shallan and his brothers set in motion a strategy to replace the broken soulcaster with the one in the possession of Princess Jasnah Kholin, Dalinar's niece.

For this character, I wanted to convey the innocence of this young girl who has been protected since she was a child and has hardly left the house. She is fond of art and therefore always carries her sketchbook. It is also important to note the design of the soulcaster.

Sylphrena

Syl is a spren who accompanies Kaladin on his adventure. It is a spirit that flutters and takes different forms, sometimes it is a formless mass of light, sometimes it takes the appearance of leaves... only Kaladin is able to see it, and it is part of an alliance that will develop throughout the story.

This character is more of a creature. I wanted to represent her playfulness by giving her a childlike face, even though she is described as a woman.

Szeth

He is the famous "assassin in white", the man who murdered King Gavilar, Dalinar's brother, on the orders of the Parshendi, thus starting the war between the Alethi and the Parshendi.

This character has special abilities that are shown at the beginning of the book. He is able to absorb storm light, which gives him the power to walk on walls or ceilings, making him a lethal weapon. He is enslaved because of honour, and hates to be used as an assassin. His conscience torments him and he wishes to die.

For the design of this character, I wanted to convey with his look that inner conflict that makes him seem somewhat unhinged.

Parshendi

The Parshendi are a race that fights against the Alethi. They are described as having dark skin marbled with fire-red streaks. From their skin grows an orange carapace that acts as armour.

This race is responsible for the death of King Gavilar. During a peace treaty with the Alethi nation, they cause Szeth to assassinate the king, sparking the war that rages on the Shattered Plains

Shattered Plains

are a region of Roshar located on the border of the Frostlands and Unclaimed Hills. They are named for their topography, consisting of a huge number of plateaus of various sizes surrounded on all sides by deep chasms.

On the edge of these plains lie the Alethi war camps, and they are the scene of what they call "races", which are marches by the army to get hold of the gems found inside the gems.
