Ladybug Hand
This is my 3d hand project.
The 3D Hand
The Project
I had a school project that required making your own hand in 3D. It's a good exercise that allows you to strengthen your skills in sculpting and photorealistic textures.
This project required several key steps which you will see below
1. Crearte the hand
Firstly I chose to make a 3D scan of my hand. For that, I did a plaster cast of my hand and then I took around 150 pictures of it. I used 3D Zephyr to make a 3D model which gaves me a base for the shape of my hand using those pictures. The modelisation phase tooks me a lot of time because I needed to adjust the topology and volume details. After many hours of work I achieved to a satisfying result so I moved on to the next step.
Many pictures of my hand in a lot of angles and positions were necessary to understand how the volumes were made. It helped me a lot for modeling.
2. Lookdev
The lookdev is matching my reference and for this project, the hand is already put on a pose at this step.
The base color and the displacement map were made thanks to the projection technique.
3. Result
In the final part I chose to put my hand in a natural environment because I found interesting the contrast between the color of the sky and the skin tone. All around the hand and the wrist I added and animated some ladybugs made by my friend Madeleine Frendo. Then I gave light movements to the fingers. All of that were done to give fluidity and bring life to this shot.
