Hi, my name is Jentl.

I'm a student at Howest - Digital Arts and Entertainment, and this year was mostly focused on Game Projects. A course were you learn to team up with other programmers and artist to make a small game yourself. Down below is the trailer of our game, and a bit further are my contributions I have made to the game and my progress.

My work:

My work mostly exists in implementing the mechanics and all the logic behind the game. From our salt ability to spawning objects around the map. Getting the win condition right and the UI logic. I will showcase them all... or at least try to.

I started of with a lot of prototypes, trying to test the mechanics that I wanted to implement and see if they were actually fun. You can see the boxes who would be the movable furniture and the cones that would be the cursed dolls. All this was tested before I began.

Then the work began to implement these into our game, with all the assets our artists provided, and simultaneously bind these actions to our UI with their ability cooldown

Salt trap:

Win condition:

When the timer runs out the winner is decided with the King of the Hill score. Whoever holds the most of their type (cleansed/cursed dolls) wins! Easy enough, no?

Possession of a player:

When possessing a player, a duel unfolds. The two players get in a button smashing race to the finish. Whoever fills their bar first wins, and the loser gets stunned, unable to move.

So my work my not be that visual, but has an important part in the game. Without me there wouldn't be blocking players, pestering each other, no stun, no traps, no win condition, no sound, no main menu, and much more. This was it for me, don't forget to check out our team entry and our Itch.io page!
