Reel VFX
The following projects have been accomplished during the first year studying Houdini. Enjoy!
These are just some of the projects I have worked on during my first year studying Houdini at FX ANIMATION BARCELONA school. Each of them has been an opportunity to challenge myself, learn new techniques, and explore the infinite potential of Houdini in visual effects creation.
On Fire
This project has been accomplished using Pyro simulations in Houdini. The goal was to create various realistic fires. The main concept revolves around a living room with a burning sofa, with magazines also engulfed in flames. A total of 5 pyro simulations were created: the primary fire on the sofa and 4 secondary fires.
The environment assets were sourced from Bridge and Sketchfab. Rendering was done in Mantra.
Emitter Configuration and Fires
Procedural Burned Shader
Nuke Compositing
Particles Hand
This project has been accomplished using Pop simulations in Houdini. The goal was to create a kind of magic that envelops the hand. The main idea was to create a sweep of particles followed by trails. A total of 3 simulations were created.
Rendering was done in Mantra.
Pop Simulations
Nuke Compositing
Petals
This project has been accomplished using Vellum simulations in Houdini. The objective was to create petals. The main idea revolves around a perfume bottle falling onto petals, softening their fall. A total of 2 simulations and 7 petals were created.
Rendering was done in Redshift.
Bend Stress and Stretch Stress
The petals were textured in Substance Painter
Nuke Compositing
Main Titles
This project was the first one done in Houdini. The objective was to learn lighting, texturing, and rendering. The main idea of the scene was to create end credits.
The assets were sourced from Sketchfab. Rendering was done in Mantra.
