Hey! I would like to share the projects I have completed during Term 5 over at Gnomon School of VFX. These were the projects for my Texturing & shading 2 and Hard-Surface 1 classes.

These were the pieces I had created for my Texturing & Shading 2 class combined with my hard-surface 1 final. For my Final, I had really wanted to create something that was Fantasy-related, as a huge fan of FROMSOFTWARE games I set out to make something that would take place in the world of Elden Ring. The knight helmet is supposed to be the Carian Knight helmet from the actual game and was modeled as my final for my Hard-Surface 1 class. Taking that model I decided to incorporate it and use it for my scene that would be my final for Texturing 2 class. The scene is supposed to take place in an old magic academy where crystals called glint-stones were studied. In my scene, I have depicted tools being used to enchant the knight's helmet with its magical properties using the crystals and the study of the crystals which were my interpretations of the lore and story of the game as context for this scene. Everything was modeled in Maya, aside from the candles which were sculpted in Zbrush. For the crystals I used emissive channels in Substance Painter, playing around with the roughness to get a glowing crystal look. I also used Xgen for the first time to make the feathers that appear near the bird cages behind the main Carian-knight helmet. The cut-outs in the knight helmets mouthpiece were designs that I drew in Photoshop, replicating the ones from the game, and later adding those as an opacity map in substance using the UV's of the mouth piece.

For my Midterm project in texturing and shading 2 class, we were provided a car model by our instructor and tasked with texturing it and creating our own scene with that car that was given. The car really did remind me of the classic red trucks that were found inside those old snow globes, so I set off to make my own little snow-globe scene. I used Zbrush to sculpt the snowman and made different variants so that they wouldn't appear to all have the same exact look. The snow that sits on top of the car were also sculpted in Zbrush. I decided that adding little antlers on the top of the car would be a fun idea so also sculpted those to make the horns that would sit on top of the car. Finally topping it all off with a glowing Rudolph nose for the front of the truck. This was a really fun project to work on, I really wanted to give it that toy-like cozy feeling so I hope you can feel that joy in this piece.

Here is a render of one of the snowmen that I used as a base for the other snowmen, adding things like deformation and playing with the gravity in Zbrush to make different variations of snowman while also sculpting them differently to give more uniqueness.
