Hi everyone,

My name is Junyi Dong. My specialties are fashion 3D modeling and knitwear design.

In my project BRIDGE IT, I was trying to build a balance between traditional knitting techniques and digital fashion. After creating countless fabric samples on knitting machines, I finally chose fishline to achieve the futuristic texture and the transparency effect. To do my design, I used CLO 3D modeling software and applied my texture to interpret the characteristics of my fabric including its transparency, strechness and thickness.

Besides, I jumped back and forth between CLO 3D and Rhino to create a bra-top with organic negative space. This is also, in my opinion, where digital fashion will be moving to. Made down to model's measurements in CLO 3D, the top was designed perfectly fitted for her. After that, I had it 3D printed with TPU material so that it would keep its flexibility and little softness but still be supportive at the same time.
