Welcome to the world of ...

Cromocosmos is a concept art project intended to be a video game. This tells the story of a far away solar system, which is quite different from ours. Indeed each planet is linked to the central star, Newel, with their cores, and each core is protected by a Guardian. And in this tale, you are the Guardian of a planet named Obsidi, but its core has been stolen ! You might suck at your job, but you must get it back before Obsidi drifts into nothingness !

Here you are !  This is Ramon, our main character, who is the Guardian of Obsidi and is tied to the color black as well as to shadows. I tried to give him design clues that would hint to him being a vilain, mostly to justify why no one in the Cromocosmos wants to help him. But despite his horns he's not a bad fella, he's just misunderstood. His home planet Obsidi looks as trustworthy as him. It's a desolated land made mostly of stony peaks, so it's not a very popular tourist destination sadly ... The only plant able to grow here is the Treemmortal, which is also the receptacle of Obsidi's core.

Next is our first boss, Thaba, who is the Guardian of Rubir, the planet right next to Obsidi. He's tied to the color red and to the element of fire. Thaba is known in the whole system for being brutal, since the harsh environment of Rubir gave him no choice except to toughten up. He'll be a very dangerous oponent thanks to his huge claws and his extensible tongue, which can grab you from across the screen. A rumour has been going around saying he's apparently really sweet towards Rubir inhabitants, but no one could confirm it (no one alive that is).

Fulli is the Guardian of Emivir, the 5th planet of the system. She is tied to the color green and is one with vegetation. She can make any plant grow as she wishes, and she uses this power to make Emivir a radiant and peaceful planet. But despite her looks, she will not tolerate any intruder disturbing Emivir, so be ready for a fight ! She'll spend most of her time up in the air thanks to her wing-like ears, and will wear you out with plants on the ground. If you convince her of your good faith, you might be able to taste the most delicious banquet of all the Cromocosmos !

Deskar is the Guardian of Cyaneos, a planet mostly made of water which is one of the closest planets to Newel. He's tied to the color blue and to no surprise : water. Since Cyaneos is quite a mysterious planet, its Guardian is not really well known. And it's not like he makes any effort to be known, since Deskar likes it best when Cyaneos's water are calm. His solitary lifestyle has made him much more prideful, so if you try to tresspass his territory, be ready to throw some hands ! You'll have to be very wary of your surroundings since Cyaneos's waters are quite dark, and Deskar is the fastest swimmer around. But don't worry, you'll be able to spot him thanks to the bioluminescence all over his body. Despite the fact that he lives mostly in water, Deskar has the ability to walk on land thanks to his tiny back legs.

And last but not least : Newel. But wait isn't Newel supposed to be a star ? Well yes but you see it's more than that : it's a cosmic entity and the demiurge who created Cromocosmos. You'll learn along the way that the true nature of this solar system is much more sinister than it appears ... It was created only to grow the cores of the planets, for the sole purpose of feeding Newel in the end. But you can't accept that ... So it's fighting time in the space void ! Newel is a massive creature, bigger than all the planets, in fact so big that you can't even see the end of its feet. But do not fret, its shining eyes will be your target to weaken it, and maybe put an end to the impending doom that looms over the Cromocosmos ...

And that's it ! I hope you enjoy my project until the end and ... wait is it the end ?
